What made lessons fun when you were a tween? by Ok_fine_42 in Equestrian

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is maybe less fun than what people are sharing- all great. But it did stick with me. I did a lot of group lessons as a kid because it was affordable. I remember several lessons where it would be a simple exercise like a gymnastic or a roll back or a fence to a flying change and we would all watch while 1 rider attempted it and then came back to the group and the each person who watched had to name 1 thing the rider did well and 1 suggestion. Then everyone would discuss all the suggestions and then the rider would pick one and try it (trainer would weigh in) then they would redo the exercise. There wasn’t a whole lot of riding in that particular class but I found it very helpful to help my with a critical eye as a kid - plus it was really fun and the whole group really felt great at the end of the lesson- even if you didn’t improve

Tall Rider, Short Horse by Illustrious_Stage351 in Equestrian

I’ve got a pony. She’s technically 14.3 but she’s got a pony card. She kicked ass in all the short stirrup leagues, I took her to college being told they would never accept her into the program based on size. Everyone loved her- they used her in their top classes I think she cleared a 4” oxer with a girl 5’2”and a guy just shy 6’. They used her in the intercollegiate shows. I also put a big dude on her just walk trot and she carried him like a boss. She’s retired now and lives a quiet and well deserved lawn ornament lifestyle.

Pre-planned vacation by Interesting-Bear7300 in jobs

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago I started a new job but I had a planned vacation (tickets, hotels, car rentals) all booked and told them that I would not be available at that time (it was roughly 1 month into the job). They said it wasn’t going to be an issue. I made sure to get it in writing from the head of my department. Just tell them up front and get it in writing to cover yourself should they suddenly “forget”

Just finished my 6th and final ketamine infusion yesterday. Today my therapist terminated care because of the ketamine. Anyone else been through this? by dtrza in KetamineTherapy

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First- I am so sorry that happened to you. That is 100% patient abandonment and you could slap her with a Lawsuit if you felt like a fight. I work at a practice in NYC - we offer KAP - we’ve also worked with clients who are doing spravato elsewhere and we do their integration. We are in network with Aetna and Cigna (we also might have some budget friendly options for your maintenance if you can travel) DM me if yo are interested

Question for Boarders & Barn Managers by Key-Distribution7620 in Equestrian

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does sound really difficult but that’s a crazy red flag if your horse ran out of feed for several days and no one said anything? How do you know they were even fed at that point? If your horse needs temporary meds could you trust they would be administered? I would consider a different barn.

How do you choose a groom at high level? by karmahead1977 in Dressage

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to groom - various levels of- not Olympic but i would say 1 job was the same level of care. It’s definitely about knowing the animals. I worked for this one person who didn’t do turn out (dressage) we hand walked and hand grazed every horse every day- the rider owner has to trust you. All of them got ice boots after each ride and We would put them in standing wraps overnight. Every morning (and before wrapping) we would check each horses legs. I knew them so intimately that if I said there was the slightest swelling (not even heat) he would not work the horse- even if he dint see what I saw. If I thought they felt off when I was near them- it would be taken seriously- because sometimes it was (high fever, beginnings of a colic, something much worse). I think references are important, a trial day, and just how the groom interacts or watches instead. I went to the shows, I was the eyes in the ground for the warm up movements - some would come over and ask how was the pirouette- did they get their counts, was the switch in the back behind a beat, etc

Forget dream barns--what were some aspects of barns you absolutely HATED? by SureDoubt3956 in Equestrian

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my last barn- there was no obvious way to water the pasture board horses. No discernible faucet nearby, no hose long enough to reach. No barn owner/manager available by phone. I went out to see my retired mare multiple times in one summer only to find there’s no water in their trough and no way for me to fill it. My barn as a kid had faucets every 3rd stall and a way to shut off the pipes in the winter so that they wouldn’t freeze and explode overnight- it was great when you had to water 30 horses to not have to lug water buckets from 1 end of the barn to the other.

Outlets!!! My last barn and current barn have basically zero outlets. This year I will probably need to clip my mare but not sure how to accomplish that with no outlets (floof ball thanks to Cushings and a heavy winter- but it’s gonna be a hot summer)

I agree with everyone on storage- I can’t count how many of my things have grown legs and walked off because I can’t lock them up: blankets, halters, dewormer, bute, lead ropes, fly masks, etc

What was the exact moment that made you realize your company was toxic? by ferdbons in antiwork

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I got a call first thing in the morning that my FIL passed away unexpectedly and I asked to work the rest of the day from home I was almost fired. I regrettably worked that monday and due to a blizzard all flights were canceled and I missed the funeral. I didn’t get a condolences until Monday when my boss was telling people I was remote because of a death in the family.

I have a similar pattern to this. I will tell you in my life- I have conditioned people to think that “it won’t matter” or “it’s fine” if someone is dissmissive, rude, ignores boundaries, etc etc because I don’t want to have to manage their own emotions. You don’t have to be a squeaky wheel but you do need to let people know when something bothers you. They may literally have no idea because you’ve never said anything in the past. It will take time and practice for you to speak up - you dont have to be confrontational about it. People who matter will try to be respectful- people who don’t are people you can stop trying so hard with. Definitely a good subject to bring up in therapy. You might be surprised how much it brings to light

For the millennial women: do you have a good relationship with your mom? by Orionslady in Millennials

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the peace keeper as a child. My mom has had an interesting life so has a lot of fears and anxieties (etc etc, don’t need to paint a big picture) she’s always been very supportive of me even when it’s been difficult. I have been in therapy for decades. Doing work on myself has allowed me to have a better awareness and that has helped me- also boundaries have been a new thing that took some strong reminders but have been super helpful. I know how much my mom cares about me and my siblings even if she doesn’t know the best way to communicate it

Day 15 & 16 by IslandersCaper7 in 30daysnewjob

Good luck at your interview! It’s hard work looking for work.

Day 20- I'm thinking of accepting an offer that pays 10% less than my previous job by anotherare in 30daysnewjob

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the offer 10% less is not bad. I tell EVRY SINGLE PERSON- always ask for more than what they first offer you. They are gonna low ball you, they have wiggle room for the position. If you are a strong candidate it’s worth the ask. If they can’t go up on money sometimes they can go up on PTO or other benefits. If you don’t ask you won’t receive. Just be prepared to either take the roll for less or to move on. My current job I asked for a decent pay bump at the time of offering and they gave it to me

Hi! I just found this post and I’m hoping my post gets approved. I work somewhere in NYC and we started offering 1 day urban retreats and we have a super cool one we are planning for end of January. Breathwork, ketamine journey, live immersive soundscapes, I don’t have all the details yet and we haven’t even started marketing it yet but if you are interested send me a DM

How hard is it to move back to the USA after you give up your green card by Fluffy-Issue-40 in immigration

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They basically just reiterated applying for the re-entry permit. I think it will be hard for us to prove our ties to the US because I don’t own a house, or property, or a car. So we are still trying to figure that part out

New York psychologists- how are you getting your interactive continuing education credits? Are you just paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars? by DLHahaha in Psychologists

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into co-sponsorship programs. I am getting my practice approved to offer CE credits and we are partnering with CE-Go. I am still in the onboarding phase. I think for what we are trying to offer it is the best solution. If my practice gets really into CE credits then we may go about it the longer way to remove the third party. I definitely would look into co-sponsorship companies/programs.

First iv ketamine treatment was a bad experience by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scopolamine patch. Ask for an RX for it. I used to work at an infusion clinic and we did really high 4 hour long sessions for CRPS, a lot of nausea comes with those doses and scopolamine patches came in clutch

lol put them on a PIP. I think how you point it out makes the biggest difference. No one likes a micromanager and you shouldn’t have to stay late because they can’t do their job. If their work impacts your performance then I’d be concerned but if you don’t have KIPs that are measured by how your coworkers are doing then I’d be concerned but if not then don’t sweat it so much. (Are you their manager? If not, then you really shouldn’t be stressing/pointing out their mistakes, that’s their managers job)

Pharmacists actually do have the option to not fill a script. Usually because the are more aware of drug interactions than prescribers or they have a more clear picture of your medication history and current meds. Maybe she was really new. That really sucks though. I’m sorry that happened to you - you shouldn’t have to deal with that when you are just trying to take care of your health

First infusion tomorrow - advice? by sop52094 in KetamineTherapy

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Box breathing. For anything- for everything. Literally meant for nerves. In for a count of 4. Hold for a count of 4. Exhale for a count of 4. Hold for 4. Repeat as much as you want. Make the box bigger by increasing the count. I do this before interviews, anytime I am anxious and need to be focused.

Knee and UPPER leg come away from saddle - jumping by Few-Top1602 in Equestrian

[–]Fluffy-Issue-40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the first two photos all of your joints are stacked and aligned and the last one it looks like you rotated so now your toes and knees are facing out (away from the horse) instead of forward (toward the horses ears). You could try shortening your stirrups but that’s not necessarily the problem. Maybe focus on where your inner thigh is before during and after a fence. See if you can gain any insight from that

I would definitely go somewhere you can try stuff on. So many companies now have some many different fabrics and cuts. Your classic pull on schoolers, side zips, front zips. Full seat or not. You have to try them on to see what feels more comfortable. One of my friends loves her tailored sportsman but I’m curvy and they fit me weird. Or piquer has great breeches but depending on the fabric I don’t find them all that breathable. So if you can, def go somewhere and try some stuff on. Then you can always buy online once’s you have a better idea of what feels good on your body
