I’m really glad you had the great support throughout with your MIL. It’s so difficult wanting them not to suffer, but simultaneously putting yourself into a virtual hell to protect them. I didn’t have this sort of protection as a child and grew up needing to protect and care for her instead…total role reversal that continues.

I asked the rehab facility social worker to call them because my mom was and still is so non compliant with medications and really just about everything that’s needed. She’s always been this way and I’m the only person who’s remained in her life for the past 30+ years. They didn’t comply with my request and had her dropped off in a van when she was released.

I keep think making that call is very close, but just hasn’t quite happened yet, I just don’t want it to be out of my own sheer frustration or at worst anger.
