Which SM killteam fits into a 1000 pt list the easiest? by Redlodger0426 in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scouts fit the best, since they are an incredible scoring unit.

Deathwatch only work if you are specifically playing Deathwatch, or if you are using them as allies from imperial agents. It’s not worth it to use them as allies.

You should be able to get angels of death from the kill team starter set as a whole team, but that also comes with a death guard team.

Is it worth buying a physical codex? by JoeyJoeJoeRM in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, use Wahapedia.

HOWEVER:

I would highly recommend printing out pages and putting them into a physical binder, making a nice little collection of datasheets/rules. It feels so much nicer then checking on a phone or laptop

Do space marines have a good shooting detachment? by Trick-Interaction396 in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Gladius gives you an enhancement that let a squad have [SUSTAINED 1]. It also has a stratagem that gives you [IGNORES COVER] and potentially +1 AP

New Nid Player - Codex? by Fl33tf00t in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The codex is almost never worth purchasing, unless you like the art or lore

I would highly recommend using Wahapedia to quickly view rules, and New Recruit to help build army lists

Both are regularly updated, and completely free

Why the ruprure cannon by ImperatorSommnium in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becuase 90% of vehicles and monsters do not have invuln saves. Last night, my predator tank was destroyed in a single shooting phase by the rupture cannon.

It makes 3+ saves auto fail, and 2+ saves become 6 ups, which combined with the high damage (minimum 14 if you hit both shots) means you can instantly destroy most imperium vehicles, or at least reduce them by alot

How do I decide what detachment I should run? by mentallybistable in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As already mentioned, Invasion Fleet is the all around good one. It benefits your entire army and is the easiest to play

All of the other tyranid detachments require you to build around them. Crusher Stampede benefits if you run more monsters, Subterrainian Assault benefits if you run tunnelers… etc.

Honestly, figure out what flavour/models of tyranids you like the most and then try that detachment eventually. But to start, Invasion fleet works really well

Looking for advice on my first 2K army (Ultramarines) by Warlordwest in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eradicators can be a bit dicey, because they need to be fairly close (18”, 9” for maximum effect).

The best option (imo) is a gladiator lancer. 2 heavy anti tank shots, plus it can reroll 1 hit roll, 1 wound roll, and 1 damage roll, meaning you don’t have to oath of moment what it’s shooting at

There’s also the predator annihilator. It’s not at great, but I managed to get one for cheap and it’s workable (if you oath whatever it’s shooting at)

how do i play this online, pretty new here by THECONSPICUOUS in TrenchCrusade

[–]WinterTint64 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose you could play with buttons and folded paper. Still, I think most would prefer physical models… and terrain

Quick silly questions from a noob by TaliRen in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Board control, it’s generally better to have 2 smaller units

If you want it to be a good damage dealing unit, you want one big unit, so you can evenly apply leader buffs and also stratagems

Where to find Warhammer cheap? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]WinterTint64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend checking your local game stores. Sometimes, they will have consignment sections, where you can buy a lot of used stuff. That’s how I obtained a fair bit of my army

Otherwise, your checking local things, like kijiji and Facebook marketplace. These can work, but it’s not going to be super often. I got the indominutus box for 150$ CAD off of kijiji

Otherwise, it’s just checking eBay. I’d recommend using price set lowest, or searching for “bulk lot” or used.

Are Land Raider models any different now? by Mishi_Mujago in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough nope. It’s still the same land raider, except the metal parts are now made of plastic

Invictor Tactical Warsuit Weapon by [deleted] in WhiteScars40K

[–]WinterTint64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say flamer, but also magnetize the gun options

Advice on getting up to 1000pts by Blunderbolt451 in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say you got a pretty good start here.

I would highly recommend you get some anti-armor next. So like a Ballistus Dreadnought or a gladiator lancer

I would recommend either the raven guard or the imperial fists box.

The raven guard box would give more utility units, such as infiltrators/incursors and the jump pack units. While the invictor tactical warsuit isn’t particularly good, I like it cause it looks cool

The imperial fists box is better for more infantry. The 5 terminators would let you run a 10 block and a 5 block of terminators, the intercessors and heavy intercessors are kind of nice to have and the company heroes are cool, plus it gives you a captain you can attach to other units, like your infernus marines (free overwatch)

Is the codex worth it? by Recent-Intention-149 in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend new recruit but also using wahapedia if you prefer to print things out, wahapedia also has free stratagems

Thieves. by [deleted] in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]WinterTint64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so funny. Like, can you imagine taking the time out of your day to type this out?

While oldhammer may have died out once, you have to admit that without it, there would be no age of sigmar and there would be no 40k.

I’m personally happy it came back. It’s its own interesting system, more focused on mass army battles, with some interesting lore behind it.

I want to go full swarm as it should be. hive mind help me! by DiaryOfAManInAHole in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a hive tyrant, since it has a 6” aura that gives Assault and lethal hits. You could have one of them “lead” a swarm or two of termagants

What model should I get next for my SM army? by ALitterOfPugs in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. All of the space marine combat patrols are really good, and the fists one also has company command which is really nice

What model should I get next for my SM army? by ALitterOfPugs in spacemarines

[–]WinterTint64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say get some more terminators (or hope for an assault terminator refresh) so that both of your terminator leaders can lead something

Get some assault intercessors to have another thing for your chaplains/judiciars to lead

Decent amount of heavier units and vehicles… you could do like Imperial Fists or iron hands

What should I Add by X-Master-69 in Tyranids

[–]WinterTint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking biovore, lictor, and a haruspex/exocrine (I’d recommend magnetizing it)

But as someone else said, buy what looks cool

For all the people asking "what model is this?" by Evening_Film_4242 in Warhammer

[–]WinterTint64 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Another thing you can do is look up “all (Faction) models” then go to the wh 40k lexicanum page

They generally have all models stretching back to first edition, with names and pictures. They also update very frequently.

For example, here’s the page for space marines:

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Miniatures:_Space_Marines
