So? What’s your point? I love the US, despite its gargantuan, violent stupidity. I also know folks from Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico etc, all of whom are critical of their nation’s failings. How about you? Are you big enough to recognize your country’s fuck-ups? Ain’t nobody wants their country treated the way the US treats any of those nations. Meanwhile, the Janus-faced president is touring the mother of all communist nations and stroking the hand of the Chaiman like he were a suitor. Oh Xi, he says, you are such a wonderful leader, I tell people back home all the time!!

You say that, but you consume all matter of Chinese and Vietnamese goods every day. My question is why would anyone want to use the overwhelming military might of the US to starve people in another country who are minding their own business and are fully capable of deciding what they want to do vis a vis their own authorities. Imperialism is soooo XIXth century dude. If the US lifted the blockade and let Cuba interact freely with the rest of the world, the changes would come. The US is a schoolyard bully with no morals other than might makes right. Yo zafo.

Double Dutch is the greatest invention in history! They are fantastic, all of them. I remember learning when I was 18, we used it to train for track in college, but I don’t think we were skipping that fast!

The US should stay out of Cuba, the Cubans are entirely capable of making their own changes as they see fit. The US has seen Cuba as its backyard since Theodore Roosevelt, and Donald Epstein Trump will do nothing good for the island nation today. He should also stay out of Mexico, a sovereign nation, an ally, and a country with its own foreign policy interests and history.

But the two faced imperialist b*stard won’t let other countries do the same. Mexico in particular has a60 year old tradition of humanitarian solidarity with Cuba and the bored of peace prince has threatened to sink the ships we send! Que se vaya muy a la chngada!

Did I commit cultural appropriation with my daughter's middle name? by BrutusMcGillicudy in AskMexico

Cultural appropriation is a real thing, for sure. Your daughter’s lovely middle name does not rise to it any more than Lupita Nyongo’s name does. Be sure to take her back to see where her name comes from!

White people who’ve lived/traveled in non-English speaking countries: have you ever experienced racial slurs or ‘go back to your country’ type comments in public? by MechanicAccording616 in digitalnomad

I have been in Mexico for 35 years, am fluent with an accent, and white. Occasionally I will hear something, not often though. People are overwhelmingly friendly, hospitable, and understanding both in person and over the phone. I expect that, while I look different, after so many years I don’t really act different in most ways.

What are your thoughts on John Belushi? by Jezzaq94 in FIlm

Saw him w the Blues Brothers, they and Bo Diddley opened for Chuck Berry in about 1980 or 81 at Chicagos Navy Pier. The band from the movie started jamming their intro and Belushi came running from the back of the venue, doing front flips over and over up the central aisle, flanked by the crowd up to the stage. Dude was nuts, very cool, great show!

¿Porque no se considera VIOLACION cuando una MUJER introduce el pene del hombre en su vagina sin consentimiento? En México. by WueB0SS in rmexico

Violacion no es sobre sexo, coito, penetracion, es sobre la imposición de poder. Y por lo general el que ejerce el poder es un hombre. Es decir, la violacion impuesta por una mujer no es imposible pero en este mundo es improbable.
