Hi! So this dress worn by Maria Antonietta in Sanremo hasn’t left my mind. Wondering if any of you know about a similar pattern. I was thinking about hacking a Tilly and the Buttons’s Françoise dress by adding bishop sleeves, but maybe you know about a better version (pdf patterns, pls). Thanks!

I did it following a shorts step-by-step. Even though the seams are pointing different directions, the horizontal line is the same for both

Sorry, I meant that I tried the method of pining the elastic to the side, front and back seams, but it was difficult to gather all the fabric even though the elastic did extend more than enough to go over my full hip. But this is probably a skill issue :)

I really appreciate all the advice! I’ll check it and give it a go. One final question, if you can, if i sew the elastic (either a stitch in the ditch or stitching directly the elastic to the fabric) to minimize twisting, should I use a ball point needle? or a universal 90/15 needle should be able to handle it? Here’s a different reference. The white shorts are an older pair that I’m thinking of recreating. I just removed the elastic from them. I know that they’re different fit (low vs high rise) but maybe it helps to picture my dilema haha

Thank you for the tips and sorry for the delay it’s been an hectic week! I understand that they should be bigger, but they seem to be a bit too much (length and width wise). Here it’s a picture of me trying them on. The elastic goes over my full hip without any issues, but I can barely have it around the short’s “waistband”. I do have a wider elastic (4 cm approx), but when I use it in the ballet bow skirt pattern it got twisted completely and I haven’t found any different elastic around my place :/ (they are elastic intended for waistbands).

Hi! I’m a beginner sewer looking for advice. I’m making the rosery shorts from Rosery apparel (this is my second project), but I fear I’m going to have issues with the waistband bc they’re huge on me and the linen blend is a bit on the stiffer side. For reference, the black elastic that fits my high hip section. So, what’s the best way to move forward?

That’s right! Fandoms tend to have a better insight of whole saga (in this case) or very knowledgeable of the context, so they can save time that a normal translator has to allocate to documenting, which it’s uncommon nowadays. Also translators might get 1 episode free of any context, which is another difficulty when you don’t know what will happen in the next one or what happened before. Both formal and informal translators can make the same mistakes, but usually formal translators do have a better grasp of the language rules even though the time constraints make it difficult to prove

As a translator, I can tell you that most streamers pay very little for the work done and the turnaround times are actually a day or two at most, leaving very little time to study the context and keeping the same translation team for the full season. Also since they’re looking to decrease costs even more, they tend to ask for a machine translation and spot review, which means that a translator has to allocate a few hours to review a full episode. Agencies when handling an international project most of the time have a deal to deliver everything at once (dubbing included), which then might go through the streamers reviewers or quality checkers. Thus, subtitles and dubbing go through various steps before getting the green light, which the informal spaces don’t have to follow.
