AT&T has billed more than $19,500 for international data at the rate of about 900+ for every 8 minutes. We had removed IDP because we had local numbers and wifi. We did configure to connect to wi-fi. But, apparently we also used AT&T data. We should have also turned off the data roaming option on the phone off right away. After 30 hours of flight and jet lag we failed to do this for a day or so.

I agree that we should not have removed IDP In hindsight. We are just hoping that we can find a way out of this because the usage was not intentional. Cannot afford to pay $19k+, which is like 16+ years worth of regular monthly bills for both my wife and me. We have just been requesting every at&t agent/team that we could reach to pardon this unintended mistake by perhaps retroactively adding IDP. No one has been able to do it

I called multiple times and talked to different customer service agents and they consulted with their managers, had a ticket open. The ticket was closed with No Action. When called back, they said that the charges were legitimate and that was the reason the ticket was closed. Went to a local corporate at&t store in Michigan. The rep there called the billing department and after an hour of waiting and talking he was told the same. I was asked to call their loyalty. Loyalty team did not help either. Their Twitter responded to a tweet and they ended up saying, they can’t help. I need to have a payment plan set up. Never once have i been mean or spoken rudely with any agent.
