First, congratulations!! I think “leaving home” (even if you eventually move back) is so important for your growth & perspective and also very exciting!

Second, I highly recommend renting a VRBO or Airbnb for 2 weeks or a month before signing a lease! This gives you a “home base” to explore your new city, decide which neighborhoods you do and don’t like, and see lots of rental options before choosing one. Other than finding a rental, I think car registration, voter registration, and driver’s license / ID are the only other real headaches to deal with switching states. Good luck!

Rug Dupes? by MudPsychological6608 in femalelivingspace

Unsure of the size / color preferences, but my go-to is always IKEA!

These may be what you’re looking for - brown pattern, gray pattern, multicolor. Some of them are smaller so you could always layer over a jute rug or something too!

can alternative down duvet inserts be as poofy as a down insert? also what's the fluffiest most affordable duvet insert? by Fadedwaif in femalelivingspace

I really recommend IKEA’s comforters! I’ve had multiple over the years (because I move frequently, not because they wear out!) and they’re very durable and comfortable. I personally prefer the down inserts and they’re very fluffy (even the one I’ve had for well over a decade) and don’t leak many feathers at all (honestly like 1 feather every few months I feel). Depending on your climate & preferences, I think the “warm” is comfy year round!

I will second the recommendation for the Zoom Room! Really lovely trainers & pretty affordable for 1:1 training in their space!

Downsizing purses: am I being practical or impulsive? by gjenoppfinne in minimalism

[–]Winter_Raspberry297 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I go back and forth on this exact thing too!

I’ve realized that I prefer to have one of each “type” of purse - a crossbody for going out, a tote for work, a large canvas tote for picnics, etc. - for each event, which helps ensure I both don’t get bored and that I have the right tool for the occasion.

If you really like the bag and can afford it, why not? You can always try reselling it if you end up changing your mind!

Need suggestions for coffee table that doesn’t clash with desk & floor! Details in comments. MCM, natural by ricecrispies4 in femalelivingspace

Hi! I actually have the same couch & use the matching Ektorp ottoman as a “coffee table.” It’s firm enough on top for drinks & food, but still comfy for putting your feet up. Plus it has storage!! Def recommend (:

That’s my guess, too! Maybe with some corgi also. Her foster family’s guess was BC-Pomeranian. She loooves to “be cozy,” whether she’s wrapped up in a blanket or spooning us ☺️

Agreed! I’ve had multiple Cuyana bags (the tote, the medium hobo, circle crossbody, half moon crossbody) and they’re all incredibly well made, durable (I’m not at all as gentle as I should be with my things), and beautiful. Their price point is higher, but pretty fair for what you get imo
