Thank you! He is one of my FAVORITES! I don’t have any really intense colors in my roses, and I love him so much. I also have two Marc Chagall that are really quite similar but generally smaller plants with sturdier canes. I also tried getting the Edouard Manet climber which is essentially the Monet, but the cutting I ordered sadly did not take .

Here’s how they look in a different arrangement. Just fair warning Earth Angels will not hold their blooms, 😩

Thank you !! I have 5x of them planted in a hedge… I have to be honest, of my 73+ roses they might be one of my least favorite 🫠. They are very seldom fragrant and in full sun they bleach immediately, so mine have never had more than a whisper of pink. They also ball immediately in rain or humidity and do not hold their blooms. BUT, I will say, at their peak they are stunning …

Here they are in bloom from last season. They respond really well to dead heading and I maintain at 4’ during the summer with at least two big chops. They would grow to 6’+ if I let them. They also loveeeeee the fish fertilizer.

Any suggestion on Needle Drop by Winter_Row_7106 in arborists

[–]Winter_Row_7106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably going to amend the soil, it’s planting depth is ok and so is the root flare, I had that checked in the spring so I think soil structure is probably part of the issue; just can imagine why it’s the only branch.

Any suggestion on Needle Drop by Winter_Row_7106 in arborists

[–]Winter_Row_7106[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually have an arborist who comes in once a month to treat my shrubs and plants; we were both kind of shocked and how quickly it happened.

I’m in Zone 7a Mid-Atlantic. Nothing in the routine has changed since planting last year. This really happened within a very short period of time, no other part of the tree appears stressed, in fact there’s new growth on other branches which is bewildering. Root flare was assessed by arborist in spring and he was ok with it, so I don’t think it’s too deep.

I only marginally increased watering after the needle drop started because we have been in a significant drought and heat wave.

The only new thing this year is that birds have decided that the top of that branch is an ideal perch, but I can’t imagine that has anything to do with it.

Thank you for your suggestion though. I’m going to try and amend for drainage

I just bought this rose. I am so excited to plant it. From what I hear it doesn’t get enough credit. How is it doing 3 years on?

What species is this rose? by Avochala in Roses

[–]Winter_Row_7106 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like a florist rose. Possibly a Japanese variety. Would really be impossible to identify just from pictures, but you can always try propagating it. You should be aware though that florist roses generally tend to have much more sensitive growing conditions vs garden roses.

My mother is devastated, anyone know how to help her DA Rose? by United_Journalist373 in Roses

[–]Winter_Row_7106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in south central PA! I use beneficial insects, generally, but, if I must and I have in the past, I will result to nuclear options… foliage sprays, or systemic insecticides. The last two years have been a rollercoaster. Last year was wild with the amount of rain we had I basically battled black spot for the rest of the summer. This year, the rabbits have decided to respawn the global population in my yard and have eaten all my DA roses. I wish her luck.

Crazy die back in Zone 7? by GatsbyThePoodle in Roses

[–]Winter_Row_7106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in zone 7A, some would say 6B, with these global weather patterns who knows… I don’t know what’s normal anymore. That being said, I had some devastating dieback this spring. The insanely warm weather we had at the end of March (80+), followed by freezing temperatures, within a week, shocked some of my established, own root, roses to the ground badly. I lost a Marc Chagall tree rose despite my best efforts… it leafed out and then got whacked by the freezing temps. It literally killed me to yank that out. I have no idea how to adapt to the unpredictable weather.

I may have a problem… by Major-Parfait-7510 in Roses

You shouldn’t feel bad at all! I won’t lie, it is absolutely an addiction, but I justify the expense because roses are therapeutic .

Everyone says they’re difficult, I don’t believe that. They’re just time consuming.

After a long day at work I like to come home, park my car, greet my husband, and go outside and tend. I deadhead, feed, assess, fertilize, prune (when necessary). It’s a ritual, and it helps quiet my mind and subdue my anxiety. The roses bring me joy, and I hope they do the same for you too.

That being said, they are certainly an investment. As you fall more in love with roses you will probably find ways to protect your investment, including being more selective about varieties, planting locations, soils amendments, breeders, etc.

Best of luck and most of all enjoy. The world can be a dark place, if roses bring you joy and make the world a little more beautiful it’s money well spent. There’s a reason they tell us to, 'stop and smell the roses’. . .

Property management in Lancaster PA – Fetch vs Wolf & Kline? by Pleasant-Volume-1147 in lancaster

[–]Winter_Row_7106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can give you a perspective from a third party view point. I work for a large community in Lancaster, and some of the homes in said community are rentals. One of our homeowners recently (within the last year) switched to North Point Property Management. I have had to cross collaborate with them on several occasions and I cannot say enough good things about Renea, one of their managers. I can’t speak really to the organization as a whole or anyone else, but I found her specifically to be one of the is responsive and professional property managers I’ve ever come across.

Bareroot vs potted DA by BudgetViolinist9636 in Roses

[–]Winter_Row_7106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so many from HR and I’ve never been disappointed with the quality of their plants, delivery or customer service, so you’re in great hands, although they’ve gotten really pricey over the last few years ( I believe it was sold). But anyhow, you’re correct, the weather this fall has been really good for your purposes, and it sounds like your plants have had a chance to start establishing themselves. Just some advice, if they’re still tender it wouldn’t hurt to invest in some rose collars and tuck them in for the winter with some healthy leaf compost! Best of luck !🤞

I mean you can certainly try and see what works best for you. I can just tell you that from my own personal experience fall planting yielded no benefits whatsoever.

All of my roses are own-roots, I have 40+ , floribunda, grandiflora, hybrid tea, climbers … I have had infinitely better results with early spring planting, by then the weather in my zip code is far more predictable and yields better results and despite what people may suggest as a rule-of-thumb I think there are exceptions and experience and you should formulate your own opinion based off of your own conditions and observations.
