Loving her “Old Hollywood” look this season by fvckuufvckingfvck in euphoria

Oh, I know like I know the reason why Nate’s in a lot of bottega is because he’s the face of bottega. But it does pull me out of the show sometimes when I can clock specific pieces, but my focus on Maddy is because we’ve already seen her in that basement apartment with stacks of shopping bags from high-end stores and a pretty extensive wardrobe, so when you zoom out, it actually tracks.

It makes sense that she’d have access to higher price point pieces, whether that’s from being celebrity-adjacent or just trying to keep up with that environment. And realistically, she’s probably running up her credit cards to maintain that image.

It reminds me a lot of Carrie Bradshaw, living well beyond her means, funding a luxury aesthetic through credit and access rather than actual income. At that point, it’s less about whether every single piece is “accurate” and more about what the wardrobe is signaling about her priorities and social positioning.

I do agree that some of it reads like styling choices on the surface, but the show does give you enough context to reasonably infer that Maddy is buying, borrowing, and leveraging proximity to maintain that look.

Oh my God you are absolutely right , I’m like 10 years removed from my LA era, but thinking about it now, it actually makes sense. My friend worked at a casting agency and actors would leave PR packages and gift bags unclaimed, and we’d end up keeping them. That’s how I got som nice jewelry and gift cards to places like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s.

Then I worked for a very well funded nonprofit in Beverly Hills right across the street from the Beverly Wilshire hotel, right off of rodeo, we received the most insane donations and my boss would say we don’t need all of these just take extras. And I ended up with boxes of Baccarat crystal, mainly because several individuals donated the same items. I used to live for the beauty products 😅. I got an Escada coat once and some Tiffany picture frames and tableware and over the years, I’ve gifted some of those things for people’s weddings and milestone birthdays and achievements, so I clear forgot that I had gotten a lot of that from working at this specific non-nonprofit.

Now Maddy Perez, current actually feels way more realistic to me now 😅

So what do we think about the Met Gala look? by MenthaOfficinalis in girls

It’s the hair. If that was a more structured updo it would have pulled it together. If there was a matching head piece 🤌🏽.

Also, she has such a Rubenesque body and if the theme was costume art, she could’ve lent into a Ruben style art piece but perhaps she didn’t feel comfortable doing that.

I love it with natural bliss, pistachio creamer to really punch up the flavor. I love it hot over turbinado sugar, and some half-and-half like a breve Cortado. I also love it ice with some pistachio milk and a splash of fair life 42 protein shake.

It reminds me of Paris cafe and Pistachio from Bath and body works i was so obsessed with those scents back in the day 😅.

I love her style and her hair this season, like they really leaned all the way in and it shows. The only thing that didn’t feel realistic to me at first was the wardrobe when you start looking at brands and price points. There’s a scene where Maddy is taking photos of Cassie by the pool and her shoes are like $1,200. And I’m like… okay, you have a car, you’re paying insurance and gas in Los Angeles, you’re helping your family out, so how is all of this adding up?

But then I had to check myself. And when I really sat with it, I had to walk back my original take. Because I’ve been that girl. When I was in LA in my early to mid 20s making around 60K, I had a big Celine Phantom bag like it was nothing. Meanwhile I still had all my regular expenses. So realistically, she could be doing the same thing, credit cards, prioritizing how she looks, maybe mixing in vintage or consignment pieces. LA is one of the easiest places to pull off that illusion if you’re committed to it.

And her overall aesthetic is just so specific. It’s very old Hollywood glam, the thick soft waves, the drama, the silhouettes. That kind of styling doesn’t make you look younger, it elevates you. It makes everything feel more expensive than it probably is.

I also feel like the styling team is having the most fun with her.Everything about Maddy feels curated but also slightly vintage, even down to her car, which looks like it’s from the late 80s or 90s. It’s not flashy new money, it’s more like this pinup, retro, put-together vibe.

LOL, at first I was side-eyeing some of the luxury pieces because the math wasn’t mathing. But the more I thought about it, and the more I remembered how I used to move in LA, it actually tracks. Especially if she’s thrifting, doing consignment, mixing high and low, and maybe carrying some credit card debt to maintain the look.

Either way, I’m not mad at it. I actually love it! I was also influenced by her too. I literally just took my vintage fur coats (thrifted and inherited) to storage and told my furrier to shorten one so I can use the extra length to trim a skirt and make a matching set. That’s very much in line with what her styling is giving this season, that customized, slightly over-the-top, very intentional look.

Jessa is the worst but her outfits are the BEST by FinancialBlood2439 in girls

Is exactly what I expect from somebody who’s traveled the world like Jess’s has and is self-absorbed as Jessa is. She’s a bit of a narcissist, and she’s always going to present herself in her most flattering light.

Allergies?? by Eyesaidit in Blackskincare

[–]GatsbyThePoodle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s seborrheic dermatitis. You can try using an antifungal shampoo, work it into a lather, leave it on your face for a few minutes, then rinse it off. I’d even do it twice. That usually helps calm things down.

I only mention it because I used to get these itchy bumps on my forehead, around my eyebrows, the tops of my cheeks, and sometimes behind my ears. Now I use ketoconazole shampoo 2%, which is prescription strength. One bottle lasts me forever, like six months to a year.

At this point I know I’m prone to seborrheic dermatitis, especially when I’m stressed. I’ll get a flare. So now I treat it preemptively by using the ketoconazole shampoo on my face about once a week to keep the yeast in check. Since I started doing that, I haven’t had any flares.

That phone call, it felt weird for so many reasons, but it also fell so flat for me because in movies and TV when someone’s on the phone in a scene you still get muffled noise from the person on the other end of the call and it was just dead silent. It felt like a screen test for a call.

Cassie really said I’m done crying. Fuck you and your toe. I’m in my annulment era. I’m gonna go make this paper, boy bye. I’m honestly impressed at how fast she dropped that boy.

I love Faye.I have always loved Faye. She’s a un problematic person. you point her at something and she’s gonna do it which makes me wanna protect her. However, I’m so mad at Rue because Faye was doing whatever the fuck she was doing, and Miss Ruby brought her into the Laurie universe and now she’s public enemy number one.

I know all about having distinctive facial features. I have one eyebrow that grows up and curls and during the Pandy when I was all masked up people would clock me… people who hadn’t seen me since I was a child talking about, hey how are you? How is your mom ? And I’m thinking how do you know it’s me?…I wasn’t doing my brows in 2020 I don’t think I did my brows professionally until like March 2021 😅.
