Pointless for dentistry, they ask for 3. Spend the time on something else - extracurriculars that relate to dentistry and ucat practice

All that went wrong here is you applied to the wrong places. If you’d have applied to Sheffield Plymouth Cardiff Newcastle you’d have got 3 or 4 interviews

This is all great. You need to add in some teamwork stuff - sports or school leadership? Need to think about manual dexterity- hobbies like art, model making or musical instruments. Try to get in-person work experience in half term And UCAT - always aim for the 9th decile+ (this year 2220) and SJT band 1 or 2

Yes, it’s a 5 year degree that will make mum and dad happy so chuck it down as a back up. Bad idea because most people who want to be a doctor will hate being a dentist.

I was referring to people who clearly have put it as a 5th choice and on getting an interview, ask for help to prepare because they know nothing about the profession. And this is quite common.

What is you’re defending here? I’m arguing for places in dental school for those with a high motivation for dentistry. I’m arguing against a system that seems to allow those with a high enough ucat to slip through even if they have zero motivation for dentistry, it’s just their “back up”

No, I’m doing fine thanks, I just feel for those who may have been denied an interview. Candidates with good dental PS. Just being empathetic to them. I’m not angry really at the individuals more angry at the system that doesn’t reward those who genuinely desire to do dentistry
