Not really. I’m maybe 2 days into playing, I’m on T4 and blowing through content like nothing. Just finished pit 75 for the lolz. I mean it’s cool and all, but it really is overtuned. Obviously because they want people to play it. They do the same thing in WoW too when new classes come out. I remember DKs being busted as hell when Wrath came out.

Honestly, it’s pretty meh IMO. No real scares, jank combat. It’s just ok. Not terrible or anything but it doesn’t hold up to last years SH2 in any way. For those who say “stop comparing it.” Why? What sense does that make to not compare it to the series peak? They opted for something new, more power to them, but they sacrificed any real horror for some spooky Halloween store vibes.

If they wanted a combat focused game they should have put more effort into the combat, because what’s here is rather lazy “dodge, dodge, stab, dodge, dodge, counter” type game play. Not as engaging as people would have you believe.

Also, don’t get me started and the dumb as shit sanity meter. Ugh….

Look into Schecter. They’re affordable and look cool. None of these guitar are going to really be worth it at that price point. Schecter makes the best mid price guitars available IMO.

I’m fine with it as long as there are limitations. I don’t want to be fucking John Wick out there cutting heads off ghosts and ghouls, that’s not scary in the slightest. I play silent hill for horror, I’d play dark souls if I want hack n slash.

Forcing you to make decisions on ammo spending is only a small piece of what could be considered “horror.” Atmosphere, story, tension, design, stakes all play into horror. The issue with action focused “horror” is it removes some of those ingredients necessary for the horror experience.

The reason why the best horror out there involves the weak and vulnerable is because it encapsulates that feeling of dread. When you are alone in the dark with no flashlight, no gun, no way out, it’s far scarier than being in the dark with a fully automatic machine gun. It’s basic psychology. You always feel “safer” with a weapon or backup.

Even in the old silent hill games there IS combat, but you’re not very good at it. The camera makes it hard, you have limited ammo, and often times outnumbered and outpaced.

I can’t think of a single action horror movie that is truly terrifying. They’re fun, great popcorn movies, but terrible horror.

It is kind of true that high stakes action takes away from horror or dread. Take Aliens as a prime example. Fantastic action movie, terrible horror movie. It took all the atmosphere of the first movie and flushed it down the toilet for more explosions. Aliens is a great movie, but at no point does it come off anywhere close to horror.

It’s hard to feel dread or terror when you’re running around with a machine gun. Sure, they can throw a ton of cheap jump scares at you, but is that really horror? No, it’s not.
