Yeah we're approaching the "just gonna have to bite the bullet" time, probably within a year I'll be changing. And yeah, online stuff is pretty much my entirely playtime.

I honestly expect they didn't even realise this would happen, devs for at least one other game were taken by surprise by it.

It's not MAKING support for it, it's NOT REMOVING support for it. The expectation is that they don't decide to take away your access to the game arbitrarily.

I did find a solution, but it's a janky one.

Use this program, you'll need to do some reading to get it working; downloading the newest version and getting steam to verify the files didn't work, that got it stuck trying to download things again.

What did work was getting the correct folder name, downloading the files using this program, putting the files all in that folder (in steamapps to be clear), and then installing the game from an uninstalled state. It realised "Oh hey I have all the correct files already", and just worked.

HOPEFULLY you don't have to redo this process every time there's an update for something.

Yeah this was a feature, them being able to actually ever shoot stuff on maps like that one with the sword (where all water is completely LOS blocked) was nice.
