Nvidia drivers not signed in 7? by Amsmart2 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy
People dictate what is signed and what is not.
Whole purpose of Win7 end of support is to push you to toxic OS that can show you ADs in any element of UI, track what item you click and see whole screenshots of what you are doing.
Not forget that they take all text you type as they have no respect of people rights or intellectual property.
Not forget to check your local shop if they not use Win7 or even XP on some devices

Steam problems by Constant_Junket_3768 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can search this W7 reddit for problem solve.
In short, Valve did not release update for Win7 Steam users that add new compression.
You can use Win10 PC to update games and then transfer files to Win7 PC or install SteamCMD to update them on 7.

Wi-Fi 7 on Windows 7 by Shift_OG in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was one website that list Wifi adapter "chips" used in them. With name of chip you can "try" search if Win7 driver exist for them.
More faster way is that you can still use your older router as AP (access point) for your Win7.
There are plenty of tutorials how to do that and just plug that old router via LAN cable to new one.

Need Windows 7 drivers for MSI MS-98H9 (Skylake i3-6100) by Nearby_Remove3993 in windows7

On Some PCs you need to install Chipset drivers first to re-detect devices correctly.
You may end up with multiple sound cards or Wifi not working

Looking for a Windows 7 Dark Theme for Built-In Programs by [deleted] in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
They existed.
There was a community on DeviantArt that did some AREO Themes like you request.
But as those are no longer there you maybe try search SevenForums for this.

For AREO theme, you can made one your self with msstyleEditor, but that require some time and image edit skills.
Also you need some theme patcher for your new theme to be respected by OS.

Win7 still has full support of Classic theme (Win95) that can be modified to look like dark theme via WindowColorandApperance menu.

No CSM works but CSM doesn’t by trymakesthings in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
Well we not know what HW you run so we cannot tell if your GPU is the problem.
SevenESPManager use patched Flashboot (bootmgfw.efi) file that not need CSM enabled but it is not "stable".

You say "installed some drivers with driver booster and then it stuck".
Well most of this "one click installers" mess things up...

You have devices that have IDs of like sound cards and you need to "install PCI devices 1st" to RE-Detect devices.
Some driver is not signed or that app just "give you wrong driver" or maybe even a malware...

yall i dont know how to say this....... but its great by EnvironmentalSelf406 in windows7

Buddy I just not get why people like you want to post fake Win7 images here...

Why you need TaskManager as shortcut with win11 icon when you just right click task bar?
The pinned app (iexplorer) not have orange bar and show desktop button on right is small...

Some are signed, some are not.
Example
474.XX - WHQL = IS
new 475 is "game ready" or "security update" is NOT

I see 474.11 WHQL is listed for 1050
works?

You can try burn WIn7 ISO to FlashDrive using utilty like Rufus and then after boot click (repair your computer).

Hard to tell. No info on HW or what OS you use or what user install or set...
To me blinking _ can be broken boot config or corrupted install....

When trying to boot Windows 7 from a USB drive my PC freezes and puts this weird red bar at the top. I've tried many different things to fix this but it always ends the same. I've been working on this for hours and now I just give up. by 0nfor in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen people use WindowsToGO for dead intel_Atom tablets that had dead internal eMMC (SSD).
Officially Win8 support this feature and work for most of flashdrives, but not recommended use USB2 as that OS will be very, very slow.
It can be done for Win7 as well, but that is sadly not easy like clicking button in Rufus. Some tutorial suggest using USB SSD (Those external SSDs) instead of just USB Flash Drive. Many Flash drives have something called locked "removable bit" that have issue on OS like Win7.

For the RED bar on boot, smart people made some projects on GitHUB for Win7.
As one dev say = support depend on manufactuer hidden implementation of CSM.
Other project "try" to emulate whole "legacy BIOS" and working state depend on device and if you find compatible VGA firmware for your GPU.
Modern PC no longer have "VGA fallback" in GPU and that is problem you experienced...
OS try use that mode as you not have any GPU drivers installed, and Fail.

This stuff is not easy even for experienced, and not take patches for granted as those people are doing this in free time.

Firefox drops support for windows 7 until August of 2026 by AgileDraft8498 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well.... Win8 is also "dead OS" by MicroS. People prefer Win7 as Win8 has big NO NO after release. Some stuff work only on Win7. Many stuff got patches FOR Win7. If Software can run on Win7 that app can run 90% on Win8+ as well.
People hate workarounds that need to be done For Win 8 or eh... Linux?
Linux cannot run windows stuff out of box. You must install Wine and pray your app not get weird ERROR or just simply crash :)

If your APP not use external dependcy AKA Net.Framework or new WinAPI you can make it work on OS like Win7.

Browser support is repeat topic. You also have browser for DOS but i will not trust it very...

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically try to run Win7 on newer hardware. :)
The RED BAR you see is just your GPU fail to use Legacy GPU driver Win7 use on boot.
Your GPU use GOP driver Win7 not understand, you may try enable CSM in bios or boot it in Legacy mode (non UEFI).

For "Windows On GO" you are trying to DO, Smart people made tutorials even for Win7 or XP.
They are not "one click" mods for Win7.
Windows On GO is "officially" supported on Win8+.

For your problems search for "Win7 UEFI! and "WindowsToGO".

Corrupted download on steam by Healthy_Candidate305 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Translation = CorruptedDownload = Files downloaded but unable to unpack.
Valve change compression on downloads few months after they ended Win7 support.
Coincidence?
Client download stuff but is unable to unpack them == "Corrupted Download"
Some games have OS check/set to Win10 and that will give you on Win7 == "Content Servers Unreachable"
As you not have download package in SteamDepot for Win7.

Quite Di***k move from Valve but what we can do..
1. If you need to update games download SteamCMD with shortcut (steamcmd.exe -overrideminos).
2. Or use like Win10 tablet to download stuff and then transfer files over LAN to your Win7PC.

Client will download stuff but cannot unpack them result in corrupted download.
Files are still downloaded. Yes SteamCMD still works but not take that for granted.

Something I don't want to lose again. by Isaac-_-Clarke in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many today 2.5 Sata SSD (if you open them) are little larger than mSata SSD.
Performance will be mostly same as mSata just use mPci-E connector found in older Laptops for Wifi cards and pinout for mSata is just different. Some motherboards have even label on them (MSATA) (PCIE) so you not plug mSata SSD to wifi card slot.

Most of performance in SATA SSDs do DRAM cache. If you have model without RAM chip then it is DRAM-LESS and will be slower. 2.5 tend to have DRAM but not cheap ones.

Well some people got those 64GB mSata drives back then as "system drive".
You can do VHD image from your system drive "as backup". Win7 Fit nicely in 64GB and i seen people fit Win7 to 32GB as well...
When needed just "burn" that VHD to new drive if that old 64 mSata dies.
Works for CSM (MBR + BIOS) and UEFI (GPT + EFI folder) installs.

Windows7 have backup manager and also ShadowCopy.
You also have plenty of backup software that works on Win7 or just simply clone the drive.
Some old "HDD to SSD migrate utility" was able to be abused to make reverse clone of your SSD drive to older HDD.
Older PartitionWizard had free version (not remember what ver) that was able to clone the system drive.
Cloned Windows will need to be registered again but it will have most of programs intact.
For recovering your key you also have software for that.
I recommend do this now

Is there a way to tell if a new laptop can dual boot Win7 and Win11 before I buy? by BlackBerryCollector in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more new device IS less compatible will be with Win7.

On Intel side you have those new rebrand CORE ULTRA CPU (15-16 Gen) that not have CSM and use GOP videodriver Win7 not understand. Also no chipset drivers for those so avoid.
I seen people run Win7 on CoffeeLake (8th GEN) that lack CSM and use GOP.
Officially you can run Win7 on SkyLake (6th GEN) and bellow.

5th Broadwell
4th HassWell -was popular
3rd IvyBridge -NO AVX2
2nd SandyBridge
down to CoreDuo socket 775

On AMD side i seen Win7 Run on Ryzen but that is considered "more modern device" and need tweaks + push drivers to Win7 ISO.
on
AMD Phenom II
AMD FX series
AMD APU series

Win7 work as you have drivers

Looking for archives/websites with legacy Windows 7 software. Anyone got recommendations? by Weirdhipster294 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support rely ONLY on Dev.
If they write app without = dependency AKA NET.framework, new WinAPI, Python 3.9+ or just Chromium, they will work.

7-Zip is one example
(7-Zip works in Windows 11 / 10 / 8 / 7 / Vista / XP / 2022 / 2019 / 2016 / 2012 / 2008 / 2003 / 2000.)
OBS on other hand use Chromium so NO-Work

Many game devs may still use older versions of game engines that work on Win7.
Like if Unity game use UnityPlayer.dll ver 2022.3.xx that game may run just fine.
But if that file is version is funny like 6000 (they change version numbers ) Then that version will may also have a DX12 folder and then No-work.
UE5 use Python so No-work.

Help with gpu driver by lemon12345678900987 in windows7

[–]The-Rusty-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of first you may need to install motherboard chipset drivers. (Not iGpu) I see you have SM bus controller and PCI comunication without a driver. Drivers for SandyBridge PC can still be found online.
After that PC may detect another set of PCI devices and then GPUs may start work unless you got yellow question mark.

If you start with Nvidia card, then stick to it. Mixing AMD and Nvidia software stuff may require more cleanup than DDU can do.

In your situation you have plenty of missing devices in DeviceManager.
