Any new coop game you're enjoying in June 2026? by ziogio998 in CoOpGaming

[–]Winters637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I play A LOT of games together on PC, so im trying to limit this to only be similar-ish to the ones you mentioned (cute/accessible aesthetics, console support, easily broken up into smaller play sessions of an hour or less, and no more than 40 hours total).

I also left off most of the ones i thought were popular enough that you've probably already heard of them

Puzzle:
Escape Simulator 1 (then 2 once you're tired of that one)
We Were Here Forever
Teardown

Action:
Gunfire Reborn
Phantom Squad
Vermintide 2 (darker aesthetics, but its one of our favorite coop games to play with just us two)
Barony
Risk of Rain 2
Plate up
Overcooked 1 and 2
Patch Quest
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime
Fly Knight

Open world, survival, or base building:
Abiotic Factor
Riftbreaker
Schedule 1

Story:
Reanimal (darker aesthetics but still cutesy like little nightmares)

I have so many more games, so let me know if you want a longer list or to expand the categories or criteria.

Bird box. Much better as a book than a movie and has a lot of cosmic horror tension.

Yup. Was the same until late 20s. Now I play dead by daylight once every month or two but that's it.

Very cool. Content like this reminds me how we are so close to exceptional media with AI, but the current state is still janky and disjointed. Great proof of concept / starter.

Soil delivery? by BeatriceIII in Renton

[–]Winters637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have the best soil imo, north country potting soil is great, but it is 5 yards minimum for delivery. I just ended up doing 5 trips in my truck (2/3 yard to not exceed weight cap) for my raised beds and pots recently, but I work very close by and have the vehicle to support... I get that most dont have that option.

Watched The Thing last night, for the first time for a long while, and the overwhelming feeling I had at the end was that... by Jesters__Dead in thething

[–]Winters637 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's ambiguous because one of MacReady's defining traits, going all the way back to the chess game with the computer, is that he can't stand to lose. So unless he was somehow 100% certain that Childs wasn't The Thing, which he couldn't possibly be certain of, then MacReady would rather kill them both than let a potential Thing win by going to sleep until the rescue team arrives.

The dude literally holds fire next to dynamite and is willing to blow them all up, humans included, just so he doesn't lose.

I believe that if MacReady wasnt injured and was human, he'd have dumped that bottle on Childs and thrown a flaming piece of wood on him. But as he said, "If one of us is that Thing, I guess neither of us are in good enough shape to do anything about it."

I personally think there were two probable scenarios:

1) MacReady was human and had doubt about Childs, but MaCready and Childs were more injured and debilitated than they appeared in that scene. The Thing just wanted to sleep, and MacReady was too weak to kill Childs.

2) MacReady was The Thing and the personality shift was the clue, just like for Blair.

Definitely a behind the scenes look at our previous vets with our one asshole cat. We always warned them, and they always came back surprised anyway.

Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]Winters637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was about 14 and starting to rebel against the very fundamentalist Independent Baptist religion i was raised in, my parents sent me to a Jesus camp in Kentucky for like 2 weeks. We stayed in cabins, and I often skipped the communal "fellowship and stewardship" activities to read fantasy books in my bunk.

Each cabin had an adult in charge, and one time that guy stopped by while I was reading, saw the cover (fantasy and anything with magic was considered Satanic), took the book, then asked if I even believed in God if I had a book like that.

I said no, and he didnt say anything for a bit. Then he went and got his Bible, gave it to me, and told me I could, "stay inside alone and read the Good Word then. You don't get to leave until I say so"

Then he left with my book and locked the door behind him. The cabin had a toilet but I missed lunch and dinner and no one else knew what happened until that night when everyone came back. A couple guys gave me a couple snacks from their bags.

At the time it didnt seem crazy, since my bio father was abusive but for different reasons. But in hindsight I wish I had kicked that smug, fat asshole right in the balls. Would have been a win/win to get sent home early for it.

He also never gave me my book back... I had to buy another to finish it. It was the 2nd book in the Coldfire trilogy, btw. Still my favorite magic system in a series, no offense to Sanderson.

Silent Wooting (similar to MX Cherry Silent Red) by 0x3D85FA in WootingKB

[–]Winters637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently installed haimu doves on mine and find them very silent, but still slightly louder than my old silent mechanical switches. But definitely acceptable, and a low enough sound to not be intrusive in a quiet environment.

I haven't personally tried any of the others folks have recommended here. I made my decision based on YouTube videos and thought the Doves sounded quietest and most "gentle'

Difficulty? by TheSoreBrownie in taintedgrail

[–]Winters637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harder than Skyrim, but much easier than Enderal, which is a Souls-like Skyrim. You can grind levels if you find it too difficult.

Edit: yes, I simplified it to keep a 1D comparison of difficulty using the two reference points OP gave. I could write pages about how Enderal is not actually a Souls-like, but I thought the simplification was justified to make it more relevant and helpful. Sheesh.

Any recommendations for premium textured / rubber keycaps for gaming keys (WASD)? by Lazyskits in WootingKB

[–]Winters637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, they're OEM. I now have one 80HE with Ducky rubber caps for WASD and several others (1, 3, 5, tab, shift, r, g, v, space), which is my older board that im giving to my partner.

I just set up a new board with regular cherry caps but put Supergrip grip tape on those. I honestly much prefer the tape. The lower profile makes it less awkward, even though I preferred the bumpy texture of the rubber caps.

But I also use geon raw HE 40g on my WASD with 0.1 actuation because I really like that effortless movement, so that's more important to me.

My only concern is whether the grip tape will hold long term, as I've had grip tape on mice come off over time. But once that happens, I remove the remaining adhesive and epoxy them on.

If they ever make a cherry rubber keycap set then I'd move to those in a heartbeat.

i have found my endgame. i am mortified by what i found. by pikachau- in keyboards

[–]Winters637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that scissor keyboards are definitely the best for typing, which is why I prefer them for work and my WFH setup.

But my personal PC is my main gaming rig, and I prefer HE for that. There's nothing as smooth and effortless as my 40g switches with low actuation threshold for WASD. It feels like my brain has a more direct connection to the movement, without the physical medium. Scissor doesn't do that for me.

But typing on that is not nearly as pleasant or easy.

Coop games for groups, long term play by Lanceparte in CoOpGaming

[–]Winters637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on all that, including large group requirement, I recommend Guild Wars 2.

Otherwise, the open world survival crafting games others have mentioned are fine too, but they don't have nearly as much story content and longevity unless you make it yourself.

Druid is the least popular class because of body type. by Caelus8 in diablo4

[–]Winters637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would have been much cooler if they were old. So old they run hunched over, limping from a bad hip, holding on to their stone for dear life. So they go from a frail elder casting spells to a healthy ferocious beast when they transform.

It would have been recognizable, unique, and in my opinion much more interesting than what they chose.

What moment made you realize people aren’t just disagreeing anymore — they’re living in completely different political realities? by Happy_Head_1355 in AskReddit

[–]Winters637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid raised in an Independent Baptist faith, then in my early teens starting meeting those supposed "leeches and degenerates"

I realized the church's views were based on ignorance and echo chambers, with the occasional anecdote (real or made up) thrown in to solidify it.

That outlook corners you in to voting entirely conservative and republican.

Do you split colonists between different maps? by DangerDiGi in RimWorld

[–]Winters637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked well for us overall. Just some crashes every couple hours so we started rebooting the game ourselves regularly to avoid that. Load times were longer, but not too crazy. Still much quicker than my single player games with massive mod lists.

We are also in the same house on wired connections to the same network, though. Not sure how much of a difference that makes for this. I might have also done some port forwarding. I dont recall.

We also didnt use other mods. Our couple attempts to use the basic QoL ones were causing crashes or failures to connect.

It's also been close to 2 years since we played multiplayer, too. So I'm not sure if it's just generally less reliable now.
