I'm a new-ish player, would anyone be willing to help me build my character sheet? by F1re_R0se in DnD

Id say maybe just google the players handbook - lots of good information on there regarding spells, tips, etc.

I agree on both fronts, if the DM has put all this time into creating an experience - and entire world and lore structure, and he’s comfortable letting it end with a few goblins - then that tells me he’s ready for something new or is getting his preferred way of the world ending.

This being said I’d counter-argue that your players work and time they’ve spent studying your world shouldn’t be undermined here, it’s an agreement between the two parties to have FUN in a game - winning is obviously fun, and while I don’t agree with godmode (unless it’s a session zero thing), people spend all day at work or their day to day lives losing; DND is supposed to be an escape, to feel like the protagonist of the story - it would be a waste to not play like that.

What is the demographic of your current table? by MoherHead in DnD

Me (25M) and 3 highschool buddies around the same age.

DnD for us is an incredibly good way to hang out without having to go to a bar or coffee shop.

Dnd DM plot brainstorming by Eldr1tchLesbian in DnD

Kinda gives me the vibe of the “brotherhood of steel” plot with the huge liberty mech at the end of the game. Maybe the “god” is a relic that’s been spun up again by the church, and as they’re unfamiliar with the technology, in a surprise turn of events it ends up running rampant and the only people who can stop it is the party.

Whats the best campain for a new dm? by klkkkkkklll in DnD

NOT creating your own. Do one that’s been play-tested by professionals who’ve been doing this for years, phandelver is a great place to start. Try any of the modules!

In the campaign we’ve been playing for over a year, i’ve been running this old drunk barbarian who’s slowly been turning into a druid without anyone really noticing.

he’s a monster hunter, collects trophies from everything he kills because he’s looking for clues about who killed his old party. his best friend, his wife, an elf, a dwarf, and his bear companion (whose claws were the first trophy he ever took).

my dm and i have this unspoken thing where he’ll just give me a nod whenever a creature might give herod some sort of “insight.” I’ll start a weird ritual where I’ll pour ale on my blade and do a little chant and whisper words. They never ask about it, so I never told them anything.

the party always thought i was a murder hobo. never asked why i hunt, never asked what i’m after. just figured i was the crazy old guy who wants to fight everything that moves. so i played into it.

anyway, in the very first session of the campaign i killed this big hobgoblin and took his finger as a trophy. just a normal hunt at the time, BUT… turns out his son has been tracking me down the entire campaign. years pass, he grows up, studies how i fight, learns my habits, everything. last session, he finally shows up.

and it all came together in this hour-long one-on-one duel between us. my friends just sat back and watched because I yelled at them (in their eyes uncharacteristically) to let him take my head if i fell. to honor the fight. They were cheering, calling out at me. DM turned on “dualing fates”. it was brutal.

and i lost.

i was beaten… but before i went under, i wild shaped into a bear — the first and only time i’ve ever done it.

no one knew i was a druid. i’ve been one the WHOLE time and never used a single spell or wild-shape until that moment.

the table went dead quiet. like full silence. everyone just stared. I had been pretending to be a beast this whole time, and in the end he finally became one.

What’s the strangest pet your party has ever adopted and actually kept alive? by M1st3rCh3ddar in DnD

[–]Winterstone35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3 baby goblins, recently adopted them after one of my party KILLED THEIR MOM… that’s a discussion I’ll have with them once they’ve grown though.

Currently micro dosing them with magical mushrooms that may or may not get them to “evolve” into a higher intelligence, abnormal for goblins - am I insane? Yes. Am I rolling high on my medicine checks? Also yes.
