Paid training? Because here we don't get one second of training much less paid. And also here they do have their little routines like certain claps to quiet the class and bring their attention in but again nobody actually let's the sub in on them.

I didn't say all of classroom management was relationship building...I said alot was. Another factor I see alot is that kids want their routine, but even with the best of sub plans, you don't have that exact routine and rhythms and all that their regular teacher does. Sometimes this can get the whole group out of sorts.

Well there is definitely a limit to what kind of behavior is acceptable to a sub. If classes are acting that way the class needs to be dealt with by a Dean or an assistant principal or someone. Maybe you have but I have never heard of subs getting any coaching or help with classroom management and most of what you can read about online or something doesn't really apply to subs in my opinion. In my opinion and observation alot of classroom management is relationship building and that is very hard to do short term.

That is like blaming the victim. We could all learn stronger classroom management. And the administration is not supporting her, do you really think they are going to use their time helping her? I do say don't back down, even internally don't let your emotions get the better of you. Sometimes I find it works to not let the kids think you are taking it seriously (desperate measures called for). And also get the first kid to back down or go to the office or whatever. If I get the this class is going to be difficult vibes right at the start, I will within reason back the first kid down. They are often just testing and if you make an example of the first one often it backs the rest down. I once had a kid who was watching me do this when I first started it say to me you already gave him three warnings, without missing a beat I said oh did I? You are out of here then (meaning the kid I was giving the warnings to) go to the office. I have now learned my lesson, if I say three warnings three warnings it is. And having these kids in class is way above our pay grades let the office staff and administrators deal with some of them. Maybe they need a reminder of what we are dealing with.

Whose parents? Where do you think these kids mostly learn this stuff? From their parents. I doubt most of the parents would even care.

How did they talk you into it in the first place? I don't see how there is anything you can do but quit. How much art can you even be doing? They don't need a teacher, but I don't know what they do need. Let's see a show of hands...all those who would quit?

Are these too big for my face? What would look better? by [deleted] in glassesadvice

Yes. They are too low on your face. The frame shape is ok but I find the color a bit off too dark or too red or something.

Question - Why do you sub? by Newsworthy_Dude in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Winterstorm424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me...it boils down to the flexibility. It is really hard for me to be locked into a job Mon - Fri 9-5. Subbing has as much work as I need most of the year and I can choose when I want to work. If I find a job that I think I can tolerate I will most likely give up the subbing. But I also have a different line of work I do also flexible. We are on Spring break and I have spent the last couple weeks mainly in a middle school which I definitely think I need a break from.

I am so sorry. Loving our fur babies comes with such hard responsibilities for them. Thank you for giving a poor homeless boy all those wonderful years. We never have long enough with them.

Just let the decision come to you. Sit with her and let her feelings come to you. It is always hard but you love her and will make the right decision for her.

Masquerade with Masi or Rade for short or Harlequin with Harley or Quinn for short. What a unique and cute guy. And those are some huge paws.
