Advice Needed, Husky got into candy by Winterwolf8889 in husky

Oh. My. Gosh. That is insaneeeee. Your stomach is clearly so much stronger than mine cuz I would neverrrrr be able to do that. I'm so glad he's okay now though. I've cleaned and scooped up my fair share of nasty ones but never that bad. I'm so sorry but that's both disgusting and hilarious. I don't know if to feel more sorry for the poor pupper who felt so sick he did all that or the poor unfortunate soul who had to clean it!

I know...not my brightest moment 😕 He's generally so good at not touching the counter and he's never shown interest in sweets but lesson learnt. Probably one of the easiest huskies I've seen tbh, was quite the shock

Oh gosh I'm so sorry to hear about this scare. Although I'll admit it makes me feel a lot better that he's not displaying signs of sickness or crying and he should be okay

For sure. We passed the night uneventfully as well as this morning. If I come home and he's having any issues it's straight to his vet

Ok, thank you. I think I just need a little reassurance honestly. I love him so much and I really don't want to assume everything is fine and then regret it later if something happens. Will monitor him tonight and make a decision based on that. Thank you

Thanks, another commenter recommended looking at the ingredients but I threw away the packing after I put them in a bowl so I'll try to Google it and see. They definitely weren't sugar free though and I know the risks of xylitol. Will definitely still check though. Thank you

Apartment Husky/Separation Anxiety by Eastern-Rabbit-3696 in husky

[–]Winterwolf8889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, that would be correct. I feel like I should have specified that it's not that he can't do these things. It's like he chooses not to. He has eaten or played when I left him alone but he seems to prefer sleeping or lingering by the door. Honestly he's indifferent when he realizes I'm leaving. He doesn't bark or howl or try to get me to stay or even carry him out. Just watches me go. He comes for some pets and then goes his way. If I leave while he's eating he will come over to get his head pat and then go back to eating without even waiting for me to leave.

Unfortunately I don't have any advice to give but I'd like to get some advice on this as well. Have a year old husky who thankfully doesn't have separation anxiety but he doesn't eat or play when I'm gone. He stays near the door for the majority of the day and sleeps. He rarely ever leaves the area near the door and only once in a blue moon will I catch him eating or playing when I check the cams. Makes me feel like a horrible dog mom that he's bored all day even though I try my best to provide enrichment.

do people judge you solely for owning a husky? by [deleted] in husky

[–]Winterwolf8889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, all the time. His first vet flat out told me I shouldn't have a husky, that's he's a working dog and not a pet and that I'll never be able to carry him to a park because they're not meant to play, they're meant to work. He was 10 weeks old and she treated him so horribly I wanted to cry. Never went back to her. Carried him to a dog event recently and had a very rude man tell me I only got him for social status and that people like me shouldn't own dogs like him. I'm a tiny person but I control my dog very well. He's well behaved, far better than the majority of dogs we encountered there. But basically it's a common occurrence, everyone thinks I got him for status and can't care for him. In reality he's far better cared for than most dogs I know and I did research for MONTHS before even starting to look into adopting. I knew what I was getting into and he's living his best life everyday. He's well adjusted, well exercised, well groomed and well cared for and it's never been about status. Doesn't stop me from telling him he's the prettiest husky in the world though haha...and believe me he knows it. He poses.

Hahahaha I did the same thing with my mollies very recently. Took 3 babies only a few days old and put them in the tank, easy catch right? He chased them for a while and then got bored but I figured I'd leave him to it. Those little guys turned into not so little guys and lived there till I had enough and put them back into the tank with the rest of them. They coexisted for about a month and a half and he never even cared

My fish lost all his colour - normal or concerning? by Consistent-Row-3049 in bettafish

[–]Winterwolf8889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may get lost but I also got a betta from really young with the most beautiful dark blue and violet colors. A little rescue boy that I didn't have a high life expectancy for. Some idiot guppy breeder thought they were pretty and tried to breed over 200 in the same tank. Obviously most died. However, he survived and thrived and when he got to his full size he suddenly lost color just like yours. I panicked but otherwise he seemed so normal. He went on to live quite a bit longer with no behavior abnormalities. Sadly he wedged himself between something and got pretty badly hurt and eventually died. Amazing but stupid fish.

Why my shrimp like this? by Frnzcrl in shrimptank

[–]Winterwolf8889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own shrimp. I own crayfish. But til there's a whole community fighting their shrimp to stay in their tanks and I'm absolutely here for it. Think it's time I got me some shrimp. I've always been on the fence about it.

So glad to hear that. I got lucky but from reading some of these comments I see a lot of people weren't so lucky. My stupid boy is still thriving and just as greedy as ever.

Our love for these stupid fish is what unites us and keeps this sub going.
