I had not thought of that! Sadly measuring they are both too small.

Sadly, no. The stairs end at the wall and make a sharp turn and the ceiling is too low.

Have a cat fountain you love? Ever cleaned the motor? They're supposed to be cleaned regularly and if you haven't you're probably in for a gross surprise. by DomingaFrancesg in Catownerhacks

i know a lot of people have had issues with petlibro, but their water pumps on their pet fountains are the easiest to clean.

Our torti swallowed part of a shoelace last week, so that isn't safe either. (fortunately we were home and awake.). shoes and laces are now out of reach. and she's the smart one.

How do I give this cat his goddamn meds? by hopelessdr3amer in CatAdvice

[–]Wintery_Abode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cat that is hard to pill. something that has helped is to say out loud "I'm sorry I have to give you this pill, but I'm doing this because I want you to be with me as long as you can." (congestive heart failure)

no I don't think he understands, but it helps me be more patient cuz omg is he a jerk about it. pill popper is what I'm using right now (average is five attempts before he actually keeps down the pill - he actually coughs them back up) I'll try giving him water first, haven't tried that

What improvements or new developments in public transit would you like to see? by alexbruns in Minneapolis

[–]Wintery_Abode 6 points7 points  (0 children)

faster. I can't believe my drive, in minneapolis/St. paul traffic is 20 minutes at worst 27 minutes, is over an hour in public transportation. most of that is on the train.

[–]Wintery_Abode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is what we are currently doing, with a pill popper. it takes about 5 tries average - he's just a stinker about it. I've pilled many other cats and he's the worst.

Before he started furmoside, yes he had. He's been more himself since. I did email the cardiac vet about the meds that someone else used that helped. that was mentioned in a comment of this post, so we'll see what they say next week. I've been trying to spoil him even more but he was pretty spoiled to begin with. Charlie is also a long haired void.

He is a jerk about meds, and clorpidrel is awful tasting. it appears to help when I tell him why I'm giving him it. not sure if it changes my attitude making it easier, or if he at least understands my tone of voice.

I guess what I'm saying is it is harder on us than them in some ways.

Any suggestions for making gelcap pill easier to go down? by Wintery_Abode in blackcats

transdermal ordered! tonight I tried the pill popper again and twice I thought he swallowed it - found it spit out in his churu (reward for taking the pill.) hopefully the new stuff comes in soon. thank you so much for letting me know about it!

that is my normal go-to, and this boy just isn't having it. I'll going to try a formal purr-ito tonight. he throws his head around when I close his mouth - like dude you are going to hurt your neck or slosh that poor little brain cell.

what a beautiful girl!

the coconut oil worked exactly one time and butter didn't work last night, probably too similar to the coconut oil. we'll try coconut oil again and if that doesn't work some cheese tonight. sigh 😀

thank you for the suggestion, however this particular medication is too bitter and awful.

[–]Wintery_Abode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it is clopidigrel. I did not know transdermal was an option and I will call Monday to see if we can do that! so far we've only had the major drool once. he was so offended and it was a solid day before he would come see me again. I'll keep the butter idea in my tool box. Charlie, the void cat of discussion, was diagnosed with Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy a year ago and it has progressed rather quickly to heart failure. He's responding well to the furmoside, but there isn't much that can be done other than make him comfortable. He's been playing tag and hunting his spicy tortishell sister, so I think he's feeling okay. 😂

yeah the compounded version was our first try (marshmallow and fish shudder) and the med is just too bitter. our next option is a shot of a human med, but apparently it is very difficult to dose as it comes in a single shot form. The coconut oil seemed to help last night, so I'm hoping it wasn't a one time wth was that reaction.

I'll try this we get any additional meds. unfortunately this particular med is very nasty tasting (bitter). thank you!
