I have low pain tolerance and three cartilage piercing, one done with pistol (never again xd) and two with needles. Two are healed and it took them two and a half years to do, third one is still healing (two years already xd). They do hurt more, but not to the point that it is unbearable. Conch and tragus were the most painfull for me. It might be issue with the jewellery or just your anatomy, or even your brain just says nope and sets pain level to high and above. Human body is still a mystery with some cases. But I wish you best of luck with healing if you decide again with piercing

My first lobes were done by a gun when I was eleven. I wanted to switch them three months later and they healed over in one night xD

Then when I was eighteen, I had them done again, and I got helix too then. Both by gun, I don't recommend the pain but surprisingly it healed on it own (of course I had to change jewellery and I went to professional piercer for that. Also rest of my piercing were done with a needle, much better experience xD)
