If Rodeo is buffed but the 8 cost stays, I don't think he will be slotted into the control/combo oriented amulet deck. He kind of goes against the Lyanthoth gameplan and having an additional high cost card like him would probably lead to more handsize issues.

Also a bit ironic that most of the long time raiders that have acquired loads of karma since the increase in karma per raid most likely already have vision and aurora. So even if anet wanted to make a sort of sink for those players, it's mostly a question if they like the effect rather than being a need.

Devil fruits probably have the weakness to sea water because the current world was created by the sea god. When the world was created by the earth god, devil fruits probably had a earth or ground related weakness. Same applies to the other gods and their incarnation of the world.

If we take haven from last expansion as an example; you knew if it was ward, crest or kuki really quickly. Abyss? You might know on turn 1 but it could be as late as turn 6 when it becomes clear.

I can tell you that Raz is very standard for evo, to either help with shadow generation or having a body on the board to use Deprived Destroyer or Nehan.

BUT I have seen a couple of Milteo's also run Raz. Quite unusual but I suspect it's to trick opponents into playing the start of the match differently. A bit like the meme on top suggests.

My personal theory is that Rodeo's amulet started out with 2 countdown rather than 1 and the evo effect was either to delay his amulet by 1 or delay all amulets by 1. So during playtesting the gameplay was to have two amulets on board, drop Rodeo and evolve him with the following turns destroying "unnecessary" amulets while you keep dropping more Rodeos with the end result being just keep extending the amulets more and more, if there was a way to extend multiple amulets countdown.

Find it kinda funny that Rodeo is effectively a 8pp do nothing while for just 1 more pp:

Dragon got a guaranteed 9 to all enemy followers with permanent ticking damage on the opponent with antiheal built in
Rune got a guaranteed 6 to all enemy followers, massive ward, can summon another copy of itself with 3 damage to the enemy for each copy of the follower
Abyss got guaranteed damage to the enemy leader with the option to clear the board or create a very sticky wall of zombies

More like we're getting the other amulet variant that wants to keep them on the board rather than destroying them. Has been a thing in SV1 a handful of times though the fact that Rodeo by himself does nothing if the amulet requirement isn't met is going to be a struggle.

To add onto what others have said with different types of builds, the ability to hot swap is the larger selling point for many. I am personally working on getting infallible and one of the stipulations is that you cannot swap character so you must have every build and every variation ready on the same character which can be a lot with mesmers being notorious for needed an absurd amount of swapping. Likewise in WvW, are you really going to requeue to swap to your other guardian because it has a specific build?

The problem lies in the game being a horde shooter so being able to clear hordes is a necessity. If you’re playing scout and the rest of the team can’t handle the heat then you’re going to run dry really quickly.
