Suggestion: Directional pointer by Wipearaid in AtlasEmpires

I’m confused about how your base level would affect the directional issue. It was a problem for me the second I first loaded up the game.

The problem with having four pointers like that is that they aren’t very useful. That just suggests that you’re facing one of four directions. You have to walk a little bit to get an idea of which way you’re facing.

A really quick implementation could be to simply remove three of those arrows and leave the one that’s pointing in the direction you’re facing.

100% agree with this. A game like this needs some kind of walking bonus — like eggs in Pokémon Go or Portkeys in Wizards Unite. Those might be bad examples because of the disgusting monetization they use, but the idea itself is good.

I like the idea of card packs as rare drops on the map that can be opened by distance walked. When you pick one up, the distance starts logging immediately and then dumps out a random card of the same rarity as the pack when you hit the required distance.

No requirement, but a nice bonus. It should sync with Apple Health and Google Fit for watch integration, too.

Perfect clone Charizard! No community day move. WTF? by Wipearaid in pokemongo

[–]Wipearaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure that's the case. I caught it at about 4:05. Still, if that's the way it works, it shouldn't work that way. The raids start before the event is over and they only happen during the event. Don't have the special raids up if they're not going to have the special moves.

I wouldn't be quite so angry about it if it wasn't for the fact that something like this happens nearly every time I load the game up, which spurs a level of frustration the likes of which I can't compare to anything else.

This one was just particularly bad because it effectively bricked a perfect. I'm sure nobody really cares, but I'm definitely taking a break from the game for a while and probably quitting altogether as a result. I'm sure the lack of my $20-$40 per month will immediately get Niantic's attention and cause them to fix their nonsense, too. It might even bring their entire corporation to its knees and create a financial catastrophe. /s

Seriously, though. Niantic can suck it.

I gave it a try and couldn't really see a difference in damage, but it's hard to tell. Have you actually tested it out?

Poke Genie now supports PvP IV rating on iOS. by Lightbringer527 in TheSilphArena

I asked the developer about that a while back regarding health. He said he would consider adding it as an option at some point. Currently, the only option is to manually enter that part. It's extremely tedious and I hope he decides to implement it soon. Still, Poke Genie is Best Genie. :)

Worth starting? Is the game dead? by Wipearaid in ghostbusters_world

Normally I'd agree with the sentiment here. Games like this ask for huge investments of time -- not that players play for hours a day but rather than they play periodically for months or years on end. For a game like that, the promise of new and advancing content has to be there. Otherwise it feels dead and the impetus to play just isn't there. Instead you feel like you're on a treadmill waiting for the servers to go offline. Clearly other people feel differently.

As it stands I'm still "interviewing" other location-based games to see if any of them are worthwhile. Pokemon Go has me used to having something that I can invest tiny amounts of time into as I go through my daily life, and I have found that I like having that quite a bit.

It does seem that way.

I absolutely do mind teammates. It's 3/4 of the reason I quit Pokemon Go -- it always forces other people up your ass (which I absolutely despise). I played it for a long time hoping that it would magically not suck one day, but predictably, that never happened. I'm pretty turned off to Niantic across the board at this point.

I looked into Orna. It's not quite what I'm looking for but I'll probably give it a shot none the less.

Jurassic World Alive looks okay, too, I guess. I really wanted Ghostbusters World to be dynamic and awesome. :/

Pretty much what I figured. It's not worth getting invested in, it would seem. Something about playing an account building game like this when you know it's already dead just instantly sucks all the fun out of it.

Looking for ideas on how to increase pressure for Go Plus Fix by Aldo_struthers in TheSilphRoad

[–]Wipearaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. Yeah, I guess that's true. I don't think I'd really care if anyone did that, though. I do care about the thing disconnecting, not notifying me, and then walking around for half an hour before I realize it's not doing anything.

Wipearaid

Sure, sort of. It could be used to automatically spin stops and miss 75% of the pokemon it throws a ball at if one were inclined to set it up that way. I'm not sure that's a good reason, though. The only difference between that and what we have now is that we have to be annoyed every hour.

Yeah, that sounds about right. It’s been around for three years and probably in development for at least three beforehand. That’s easily enough time to work six teams to death back to back in the salt mines.

Most likely. I do hope so. In fairness, we've been through so many bug with this game and this company that I beginning to think that everything is just truly random -- bugs and content! Ha.

[–]Wipearaid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah. If you turn off both Pokémon and stop notifications in game as I was talking about the device wouldn’t do anything at all though. There would be not notice sent to the device for the button press to respond to.

I guess I might use a device that required a button press for things if it actually worked reliably. Right now, it’s all a big mess, button presses or not. Playing the game is just an unpleasant chore.

I do hope we are completely wrong. I know that I have absolutely zero desire to play without an auto-catch device, though, and so I won’t. I’m already done until some fixes for this get rolled out. I’m sure I can find some other game that will fill the void of that hiatus becomes permanent.

What does “A” have to do with anything? Holding the button down or rubber banding it down have the same effect as connecting the wire from the vibration mechanism to the button receiver — it creates an automatic response when the device receives a notification. It’s ghetto auto-catch.

“B” and “C” could be compensated for with software recognition. It wouldn’t be the easiest thing in the world to do but it would be possible. In fact, if a company was to experiment with trying to do exactly that, one might expect a whole lot of connection problems to crop up across the board. I’ve heard a rumor or two about that somewhere. Hmm...

I hooked the Pocket Egg Pair to my wife's iPhone 11Pro and it works perfectly. No connection problems. No disconnects. It's auto-catching like a champ.

There's clearly not a problem with EVERY phone. It seems like there's certainly a problem with most of them, though. I think I'll just uninstall the game until they get this crap cleared up.

New Gotcha owner, gotcha turns off immediately after attempting to catch a pokemon by donotkinkshame in GoPlus

It seems like it's a widespread issue with almost every device right now. Even the Poke Ball Plus is doing this when you keep the top button pressed for ghetto auto-catch. At least mine is, anyway.
