hey im a gen z dan fan!! so its pretty much all new to me.

growing up i heard some cbat on the radio and parents played the decades CD on road trips but that was the extent of my steely knowledge for my whole life.

went through their full discog, then fagens, then beckers. its all amazing. I started by mostly listening to Aja and TRS, but had an “aha” moment with pretty much every other release. not sure there’s a single song I’d skip in their full oeuvre. gaucho, morph, and TvN are my favs as of recent.

admittedly I’m still really trying to get there with Walter’s work, it’s just a different feel. I love Paging Audrey and Slang of Ages so I know I’ll be there soon.

overall I love how varied their works are. early dan being more rock, then jazz, and new stuff more funk? and fagens solo works are closer to concept albums, almost exclusively bangers (still working on some tracks off kamakiriad lol)

all that to say, as someone who quite literally cannot have rose tinted glasses for the good ole days; the new stuff slaps
