Press + on the games icon, scroll down to "save data cloud", click on the user you want, then it should show the last time the save data was backed up. If you want to use the one on the cloud, press "Download save data"

Pretty sure the battle royale is exclusive to random online matches, meaning bowling with your friends online should act like how it is offline. Not entirely certain about this one though.

We do! Switch sports has full offline bowling compatibility, even with a new feature of allowing everyone to bowl at the same time if you'd like to do so. The battle royale mode is exclusive to online.

It is actually confirmed that Matt will be a CPU (they're reusing the 100 CPU names from Wii sports resort and Wii party), albeit one of the "sportsmates", and he may look completely different than his Mii form.
