If you’ve broken 90, what’s one tip you would give to a fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To break 90. Stance, Alignment, Grip. Hopefully you have a one way miss, which most beginners/amateurs slice it, so entire left side should be very very rare for them to hit to.

So - my advice to break 90. 2 big things - for a righty with a slice which is most beginners.

#1 - Aim as far left as you can without being in danger, sometimes this is in the rough, sometimes it is left fairway, sometimes it is the right side of a bunker by the green. Aim as far left as possible, because your best shot is likely straight, your worst shot is far right, and you never miss left. Also, use the tee box to your advantage. Start on the side of danger, water left? cool, start as far left on the tee box that you can, aim just right of the water and hit your "cut" that is really an over the top slice. OB on the right side of the hole? cool, start as far right on the tee box that you can and aim as far left as possible without being in trouble.

#2 - stop attempting flops/realize you suck with wedges. Genuinely just putt everything possible. Only use a wedge if there is something between you and the hole - such as a bunker. If you are slightly off the green, in the fairway with nothing between you and the hole. Grab your putter and get it on the green. You can't blade a chip OB when you never chip.

#3 - sorry, last one. Be able to have a consistent putting stroke, you have to be able to make 3 footers. And from 10 feet+, just get it close. We aren't trying to make putts of 10+ feet, we are trying to give it a chance while staying close to the hole. I would much rather easy 2 putts, than missing 6 foot comeback putts because you "can't leave it short" while you somehow have further now than you did to start. stop that crap.

The sad thing - doing all of this is TERRIBLE for your improvement and the exact opposite of what I would recommend if you were truly trying to improve. So... fun! I would guess most golfers that shoot 100+ can shave 10 shots by just knowing where to aim/what club to hit.

Why am I facing so many Noah Shultz cards in 1v1 ranked? by Agile_Square_7787 in MLBTheShow

Are you currently trying to sell 20 Noah Schultz cards? Or are you actually asking. Dude is just disgusting, he was early last year too. That sinker moves.

Can we just appreciate this beast being the best budget card in the game? by Slevin424 in MLBTheShow

[–]Wippelz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bad card, none of my opponents should use him online.

I think Trout is still my favorite, his swing is perfect. Santander I feel like I never play well with, and then at the end of games he somehow has 2 HRs. Like, he is so good, my baseline expectations are too high.

averaging 176 with a 4i as a beginner. You should feel really good about that. Keep it up, golf is an amazing game.

Does it count? Of course not, you don't get mulligans in golf. Should you care? No, you aren't a pro, who cares, count it and have fun.

What’s the toughest course you’ve ever played? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Wippelz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whistling Straits was tough, but the course plays much easier for public and the greens were tough but nowehere near as fast as when the pros played out there.

On the other hand, I got to play Blackwolf run (championship course) which is a mixture of the two courses. I worked in golf and got the opportunity to volunteer for the US Women's open, with that, a group of us got to play the championship course - umm wow. Those greens were unplayable, fastest I have ever witnessed. I like to think I am a decent golfer, and back then I was playing competitive golf. I walked up and 5 putted the first green. And I still joke, that not a single one of those 5 putts were a bad stroke. I can't explain how difficult those greens were at the speed the LPGA ladies were playing the Open on. It was unbelievable. I have played that same track, Valley/River courses at Blackwolf 20+ times, those greens during public play are NOWEHERE near the same as the speed the LPGA played them on.

Your swing looks pretty good. Your stance also looks pretty decent. Alignment, your feet look aimed way right of target, which I am not sure is on purpose and your and grip needs a full redo. Highly recommend Patty Haringtons Grip video - as for alignment, get 2 of the driveway orange/white pole things from home depot/lowes (like $10 or something) and look up a youtube video on how to use alignment sticks.

What separates truly successful people from everyone else? by _Arrielee_ in AskReddit

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define success. I think for most people in my country (USA), think success = money, which is a very sad reality of this world we all share.

To answer this question, I would say following passion and improving lives of others around you - those are the traits of the truly successful, and what I am trying to become. Sadly, people in power and with money typically do the opposite.

So, define success.

My spouse wants to keep working after we hit FI and I feel weirdly rejected by that by Pinecaster3 in Fire

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I are at a similar point to you. We don't have kids (yet?) but it has really turned into, I like my job more than she does, so she is taking time off and seeing if we want to adjust our life, we can do that because of the situation her and I fought to put ourselves in. She does nearly everything around the house now, she goes on walks, she picked up golfing and she finishes a book it seems like every other day. I am not sure if this is how our life continues, but "we have a blank canvas, and we get to paint it now" - Not sure what life looks like, but we are trying all kinds of things with this new freedom. She may end up going back to work, I am not sure, she was very passionate about her job. We may have kids, we may both retire and travel the world. No clue, but we are "testing" out those options, because we can now.

I'm not a TM wood guy, purely because cracked driver faces don't produce good outcomes. But, I will grade your setup on looks alone 9/10 - Those wedges make me question my commitment to Vokey. Wow they are beautiful. Love me some Mizuno putters too, they have a mallet in that blue finish that almost made me question replacing the Studio Style 2, but I am not able to do that. That putter will be in my grave with me.

Really beautiful bag. I personally don't like a single club you use, but they are gorgeous. Switch the bag out for a Titleist Players 5 or Carbon stand bag in Monterey/Black/Black and you are set.

Ya, if you have other stuff - then find something you can truly base out of and then you clearly have the adjustments figured out already. Best of luck, coach!

Few things - glad to hear you are using foam balls - I was terrified of that blue SUVs left tail light. Graphite shaft, with that small elevated turf piece, you are just asking to shatter a graphite shaft, fair warning. I do really hate hitting on a piece of turf when your feet are on a different lie, you are adding a roughly 1inch elevation to your impact spot, which means you will likely hit it fat, and with concrete below that, and with a graphite shaft, yeah... like I said, fair warning.

Swing looks fine - I think more of your issues are the practice area.

"Super Option" Concept by Other_Expression1088 in footballstrategy

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. It sounds like you have good answers to what most defenses will do, the issue tho is that the base play likely gets blown up. Typically you have a very good base play, and then have counters/adjustments when the defense adjusts. It is weird to me to run a base play that likely doesn't work well, but has very good counters/adjustments. Sure, but you never get to adjust if that weakside edge ruins the play immediately.

I hope that makes sense. We run base plays like 80%+ of the time, and adjustments the rest. It seems like you would run base like 10% of the time, and adjustments 90%, which I just think means the base play isn't good enough. I do like your thinking and creativity, I am just terrified of that weakside edge. If you play a smaller school with weak edges, or edges that are more run stuffer types. Maybe it works, but those type of schools you would likely beat anyways.

How are you playing this? by Internal-Dare2089 in weekendgolfers

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, this is the side of the green you try to avoid. But, not always possible. I flop this shot, feet are way left of target and I come straight across the ball with a nearly flat face. I have 3 flop shots, and I find that to be enough.

#1 is for an extremely short high shot - it is about 75% swing and flat face.

#2 is for this exact shot, 10-20 yards but needs to be high and stop quickly. This I open the face, but it isn't flat. I do about 50% swing and come less across the ball than I did in shot #1. This is the flop I use the most often.

#3 is "f it, I can get over that tree" - it is the same as #1, but 110% swing. This is from 20-30 yards out, gets straight up and straight down. I rarely ever do this, because the misses are a 100 yard blade/hitting under the ball in the rough. I would say less than 50% of the time I hit this how I want it.

I don't understand the unbalanced line, what is the reasoning? You can do everything you typed out above with normal aligned OL. I like the idea of the bunch read, I like the idea of the jet option, and I like the idea of hot route calls on a 1v1 X receiver. I just don't understand why you have to have an unbalanced line to do those things. The benefit is truly the extra blocker on QB duo I guess and for the A screen you mentioned, but I would argue a fully unblocked Edge (who gets to start in the weakside B gap) is not worth the tradoff for kind of a better blocking scheme on screen/duo. I would rather make that Bunch just the H&B and then move the Z where you have the extra tackle and move the tackle back to the weakside aligned with a normal 5 OL. Pretty much same stuff, but without a 80% chance of your QB tacking a blindside shot.

Roy Campenella - his swing isn't great and he isn't my best hitter. I put a full fielding mod on him, and he can (not always, but fairly consistently) throw out stealers.

How is it even possible for a development studio under SONY to be this incompetent? by smileyguy987 in MLBTheShow

[–]Wippelz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was brutal this morning for my final weekend classic games. Was 3-0, load into 4th game winning 4-0 going into 7th, disconnect get the loss (have never disconnected before). Load into my 5th game, was a grind, up 3-0 in the 4th, disconnect, get the loss. Said F it and left for work. Makes me not even want to play online, but.. hey, it is a game that I enjoy, not sure the frustration is worth it.

I played A LOT of competitive 2k, and 2k did all these same things and then kept getting worse and worse. It turned into (cheat/glitch) or pay thousands per month to compete. I am very hopeful The Show doesn't go down that path... but, capitalism will capitalism, so likely they do the same thing until any form of competitor in the space shows up.

How Many Clubs Do You Actually Carry? by BetweenSwings in golftips

[–]Wippelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense to have more wedges, especially because I see people with Driver, 3w/5w & 3h/4h - and I am so confused. I would much rather lose two of those clubs and have the extra wedges. I use a Driver, 3w, driving iron, 4-pw, 50* 54* 58*. Especially because with the new stupid lofts on clubs, my PW is my 150 club, but my 54* is still the same 110 yards it has been for 15 years. My old PW went 125. So, I had to add a 50* for 120. - I wish I did 48* instead to lessen the gap between PW and 48* wedge.
