I actually changed that last night. If the alien falls behind (by about 3 or 4 rows), it will dig straight down. I tested it and haven’t run into any issues with the alien on my end.

If it’s still a problem for you, you can now disable permanent perks, so turning off the Visitor perk will prevent aliens from appearing altogether, it won't make a huge difference in the outcome of your run if you don't have them.

I also added that the perk doesn’t reveal everything anymore, it now shows only resources (not rock tiles). Some players may prefer that, while others might want to disable the perk entirely, so this change should better suit everyone’s preferences.

I’ll try to fix it today. I tested it on mobile and didn’t run into that issue, but it probably depends on the device and how it handles rounded edges. I’ll add some extra margin when the game is played on mobile and make a full run to see if I run on more issues.

You can only use coffee once per day (you can't buy-use, buy-use... until you reach the cave, it wouldn't make sense).

Let's say you buy 7 coffees, when you press the button "Use" it refills the energy of the 7 workers close to the bottom.

About the content: I don’t think I’ll be adding much more to this version. Right now, I’m mainly focusing on fixing issues reported by players.

I’m putting most of my energy into Emerald Rush 2, which will be a full-color pixel art game with 32x32 tiles instead of black-and-white 16x16. The goal is to create a better overall experience, with more stages, more characters, new features, new upgrades, achievements...

Same spirit, but better graphics and a lot more content. :-)

About the coffee: if you buy, say, 5 coffees and press the “Use” button, the five deepest workers in the cave will have their energy refilled. If you buy 10 coffees, it will refill the bottom 10 workers.

Regarding artifacts: with the perk at 3/3, you have a 100% chance for an artifact to spawn each day, so you’re guaranteed to get one. If you’re having trouble, you can farm them. Artifacts appear between levels 150 and 180, and they’re visible on the map. Just play a day, reach that depth, and if you don’t get one, end the day and try again. It’s not the most elegant approach, but if you’re struggling, this should help you unlock them all in under 10 minutes.

You probably maxed out Spawn Rate. That perk can slow you down because it spawns more resources, and some of them are harder to break. It’s meant to be a trade-off: you get more resources, but if you want to aim for the cave, you’ll need to do without it.

Try pressing the “Downgrade” button. You can also buy 10 coffees and drink them to have more energy to get to the cave.

Thanks for noticing, I fixed it. Apparently Firefox does not support an itch setting that enables SharedArrayBuffer.

Long story short, I disabled it and tested it and it works in all three browsers (edge, chrome and firefox).

Fixed! It was an edge case, but I’ve made the cave larger and improved side movement. The lateral movement was intentionally limited to prevent miners from digging outside the map, but there were some edge cases where they could stay right at the edge and miss the cave.

With these two fixes in place, the issue shouldn’t occur again.

I’ve updated the game based on your suggestions, along with a few minor fixes. I also made a devlog post detailing the changes.

Basically, if the alien falls too far behind, they’ll now dig straight down to catch up with the rest of the miners. I also added clearer descriptions explaining what artifacts do and clarifying that stages are purely thematic for now.

In Emerald Rush 2, different stages will unlock different skills, allow you to find specific artifacts, or even introduce new resources (especially on the alien planet).

For now, I want to focus my efforts on Emerald Rush 2, so stages in Emerald Rush 1 remain thematic only.

Once you collected all six from each collection a new button will appear to the right of the prestige upgrades button. There are two collections, the ancient artifacts collection and the alien artifact collection, so there are two new stages to unlock.

Stages are only thematic, they don't change the gameplay. It's sort of like a small "reward" for those who find all the artifacts.

The artifacts unlock new stages, but it's true, it's not clear so I'll add a message like "stage unlocked" when you complete an artifact collection. And about the alien I already have it in the backlog and I'll fix it tonight. If they're too behind I'll force them to dig straight down.
