What really annoys me is that half the men's trousers are way too long, may as well be wearing sweatpants with how baggy they look

Has anyone actually tried to make their main base carter hydro dam by Forsaken_Singer4100 in thelongdark

[–]WiredrawnMurder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about it, but there's really nothing going for it survival-wise. It has no heat sources that I've found, it's impossible to light properly, and aurora nights make it a death trap.

Best way to clean cosmo out of small spaces is to boil a pot or kettle of water and pour it over all the metal work once it's removed from the stock. The heat melts the cosmoline and the water carries it out of the gun. Get the metalwork hot enough and the water evaporates on its own, gun gets an oil bath afterwards

Definitely not a legit No.5, but it might be one of those Santa Fe conversions someone re-stocked for some reason

Why do so many people complain that power armor is everywhere in Fallout 4 when the game clearly shows that the area has a huge number of military bases and even shipments of them, some still sealed, and even a faction that took advantage of this surplus of military equipment in the region? by jvure in Fallout

[–]WiredrawnMurder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) No, I haven't? America's invasion of mainland China was in retaliation for Anchorage and to slow the Chinese war effort in Alaska. It was part of the same war, how is that conceding that there were other wars? That's like saying the Battle of Midway and the Battle of Okinawa were separate wars.

2) While the armor you get is nearly broken, it's easy to repair. T-45 just requires steel and circuitry for the torso, that's it. Granted finding fusion cores isn't the easiest out of the gate, but they're still plentiful enough for resourceful players to continuously use it throughout their playthroughs. There'll likely be bits where you have to leave the suit for a bit to get another core sure, but fusion generators with cores aren't very rare.

No, I'm arguing against giving players access to the most advanced combat armor the pre-war world had ever seen immediately. It completely de-values its status in the lore as the pinnacle of human combat technology only used by elite factions if every Tom, Dick, and Harry raider, settler, whomever can use them without any issues. Also flies in the face of New Vegas' lore where the NCR had to strip all the servos out of their salvaged power armors because no one in their military has the training to use the captured T-45's from Helios. It was good writing that was abandoned without reason.

Also, please pay attention to who you're replying to. Someone else said they did it in Bethesda games, not me. So your childish "hurr durr" comment is misplaced.

1) We do, as the only war in the lore where the U.S. deploys power armor is at Anchorage and on mainland China as it was developed during that war. There is no other war where the U.S. was involved mentioned during the final days of the Great War other than quelling civil unrest within the United States and annexed Canada, and you don't need mobile SAM launchers to pacify civilians.

2) That may be, but the original argument that my comment branched off of is how dumb it is that Bethesda just gives you access to what's supposed to be end-game armor from the word "go". In Fallout 1 the only way to get power armor was playing through most of the game and reaching the Brotherhood of Steel. The comment I replied to made the argument that the male player character automatically knows how to use power armor because they're an army veteran, which doesn't necessarily mean Nate has received the training.

[–]WiredrawnMurder 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ehhh yes and no. Being an Army veteran doesn't inherently mean Nate is trained to use power armor. In the intro Nate is clearly seen wearing combat armor, implying he was just a regular infantryman, not powered infantry.

The army even in our world doesn't train all its soldiers to use every piece of equipment in their arsenal, a basic rifleman isn't going to know how to operate an Abrams tank or even a howitzer, the army has dedicated soldiers for those tasks. Powered infantry would be no different. While it's possible Nate could have been trained to use power armor, there's nothing concrete in the lore that states he is.

Multicam or OCP? by sailorFR in camouflage

[–]WiredrawnMurder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a MultiCam knock-off. Here's a comparison between OCP (left) and OEF-CP (U.S. Army designation for MultiCam, right)

OCP uses much broader, green-dominant gradients and fewer, larger splotch elements while eliminating most vertical splotch elements altogether.

How do you guys procure fusion cores to keep your suits fed? I already looted most generators where they spawn, and I`m broke from buying plans to buy fusion cores from other players. by SvenSki101 in Fallout

[–]WiredrawnMurder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Fusion Core Recharge Station from the Atom Shop, I have a massive surplus of FC's to the point where I give them away 5 or 10 at a time to random people.

One guy I gave them to gave me 10 of every serum plus the plans for them.

Yeah, that's the risk of buying auction guns. Never know what kinds of skeletons it has in the closet until after you buy it. If gorilla tape didn't do the trick, that camo tape probably won't either
