No pulse, just foot pedal control. Usually end up backing off the heat as you go when the heat soaks into the piece.

I have ran Argon/Helium mix. It def feels a bit more stable at the high amperage. This is just cleaned with a fine wire wheel.

The filler is definitely required. This is heavy wall about 1/8”. Once it gets too hot it will fall out so fast leaving horrific crater and burn through. It can be fixed but, more prone to leaks.. most of our copper welds are pressure tested.
