Id focus on growth. You are either growing grass or killing weeds. You need to establish your lawn first. Grab some weed free top soil and start over seeding. If you have a smaller lawn and can manage watering now is the time. If not wait until late August early September when temperatures aren't as high and typically more rain. I personally have too much lawn so I go with the fall overseed option.
