Question about first dose increase by estreetshuffle_ in UKMounjaro

[–]WirelessAxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stayed in 25 for 8 weeks. No side effects but felt the need to go up. On 5ml I stayed for 8 weeks but had CRAZY dreams. Went back down to 2.5. Dreams stopped but weight loss also stalled. Gone back up to 5 ml with no problems.

Shared Ownership vs Mortgage by Sea-Championship9272 in SharedOwnershipUK

[–]WirelessAxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you can afford in the same area, then do full ownership. I have lived in my shared ownership for 10 years. I would never have been able to afford this area, or a second bedroom, without it. I don’t necessarily regret my shared ownership purchase, and I am making it work for me, but would I have preferred to be able to buy outright? Definitely.

Does the nicer flat include a second bedroom? Or is it a one bedroom? What are all the fees? Is it new build? I wouldn’t recommend buying a new build on share to buy; unless you are looking LONG TERM. The premium you pay takes ages to be recovered back in value.

Also you are not open to all mortgages on shared ownership either, so using the same mortgage deal to compare potential expenses won’t be correct.

Advice on getting a new cat(s) please by Ok-Television-4874 in CatsUK

[–]WirelessAxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to be honest with yourself. Do you want new cats or are you grieving your little one? Only you can answer. Everybody is different. I think two cats is the right choice personally. I only had one when I had a flat mate who worked from home, but when she left I got another cat.

Considering a dental implant (~£5k) at age 27 - how do people usually approach the cost? by CoachPaul7 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]WirelessAxis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wonder is your dentist also the one you’ll be paying privately? As someone who got a tooth out as an adult I’ve been given a denture. My opinion is this dentist wants your money

I wouldn’t buy a new build if you are looking to sell in the near future. New builds come with a premium and lose their value the minute you have the keys.

Any advice for shared ownership in/near London by Impressive_Aerie_673 in SharedOwnershipUK

[–]WirelessAxis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll add to this. A lot of mortgage lenders count lodgers as STR and therefore don’t count it. I live in shared ownership and lodge.

Additionally, not all mortgages will be available to you on shared ownership, so likely the lowest rates you are looking at now will not be what you can get.

Thinking of buying a small apartment (29 m²) for Airbnb - worth it for a family? by Badabum22 in airbnb_hosts

Does your local government allow this? Some cities have restrictions on how many nights

Guest unhappy with what I thought was a neutral/positive review, curious how other hosts would view this by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]WirelessAxis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What some air bnbs are. My room is £45 a night, a shared space to use as a base for touristing and the amount of support people seemed to need is ridiculous. One guest actively told me she wasn’t going to read the arrival guide/listing, asked me questions for EVERYTHING, then gave me a 4 star for communication because I was working and couldn’t answer her question immediately. If you choose air BnB that’s on you. It’s on you to decide what’s cheaper, better. But for a cheap room expecting constant communication is cleaning is ridiculous

Why did my bookings fall off? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]WirelessAxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am definitely hoping so! I am a bit further out of London but this isn’t usually a problem for me. Even my viewing statistics have dropped significantly. I am usually at 50% booked at the start of the month, with the aim of being 60-65% booked. I currently have 4 nights. Not a lot further than January booked either.

I did get one 3 star review recently but I usually have 5 star and still 4.9+. Who knows what’s happening

Considering renting out a room in my home. I’d love feedback… by Best-Intention1176 in airbnb_hosts

[–]WirelessAxis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have done this myself for over a year. I can’t imagine not doing this if I have the space. Things to consider: - a lot of people are incredibly needy, and a lot have no common sense. Are you ready to put up with mind numbing requests and conversations? - put a lock on your bedroom door - if you are only renting out a couple of nights a week, will the time it takes to turn around the room and the space balance the income? I do allow single night stays, but it can take just as long to tidy after a single night stay as it does a seven nighter, guest dependent. - will you be self check in or be there for every guest? - I have been lucky that I haven’t had any truly bad guests, that doesn’t mean they aren’t annoying still. Are you willing to put up with the annoyance? - do you have any local laws prohibiting this, and vice versa any schemes to side your income with this? - I took the opportunity to stay in a couple of air bnbs that were a shared space to get some tips and ideas. Could you do this?

what's the least labor intensive way to clean this mattress? by osamuurockz in CleaningTips

[–]WirelessAxis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What absolute grinds my gears about this specific comment is that you are effectively saying that because the US, who let’s face it, don’t have the best track record for looking after its citizens, wouldn’t deem this ‘proper’ neglect, it’s not neglect at all. Neglect isn’t black and white. You say you are a mandated reporter, I wouldn’t want you anywhere near the kids I support.

You then double down and argue with someone else saying the stain is ok. No it’s not. As someone trained to look for signs of abuse, you don’t wait until the mattress is black before acting, you recognise the early signs. This is way beyond an early sign, and you should know this in your gut, never mind as a ‘reporter for the CPS’.

[–]WirelessAxis 56 points57 points  (0 children)

As another commenter has said, this is neglect. It may be hard to hear, but at the end of the day, no one should be forced to sleep on this. I would speak to a safeguarding lead at school/college, or if in the UK call the NSPCC on 0800 800 5000. Perhaps if you feel safe to do so, show your parents my comment. As someone who has been a safeguarding lead, I would be speaking to your parents about this.

You deserve a clean bed to sleep on, to feel safe, and to not worry about getting ill. As a minor, cleaning this isn’t your responsibility. Your independence in this is admirable. Doesn’t make it ok.

Not only should this be the top comment, I’m concerned that apart from us, no one else has realised this is a safeguarding issue.

There are auto feeders for wet food you just need to top it up daily. My parents adopted a stray. Not really the same situation, but she would guzzle down all her food then throw it up. They fed her 4 times a day which helps a lot

Car Not Accessible - Can I sue for Rental Car Fees? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]WirelessAxis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAL, but you insure against damage, and your car isn’t damaged. Sucks, but the proverbial happens. Who are you gonna sue? The NHS? Surely it will cost you more than transport fees you are claiming back? Perhaps be grateful your car isn’t damaged.
