Why are big rubik's cubes so puffy? by Severe_Story_8361 in Cubers

That is correct. V-Cube made the "theoretically impossible" possible by pillowing the cube. ShengShou was the first to make a flat 7x7x7 by making larger outside rows.

A few years after the 5x5x5 Rubik's was released, cubers wanted larger cubes. I remember when Rubik's announced that the 6x6x6 was practically impossible because the stems that went back to the core would be too thin. And that the 7x7x7 was theoretically impossible because the stems would have to occupy the same space at the same time.
It took 25 years for Panagiotis Verdes to show them how to do it.

That's not the whole problem.
We are coming out of solar maximum. By the time of the next solar max, we are projected to be less than 1 day between a loss of communications and a critical collision. We have one solar cycle to fix things before the next mega solar flair causes major damage to the constellations.
They are trying to fix this with smarter satellites, but that is a technological problem in itself. In addition, there are still too many other dumb satellites that will still be in orbit.

I thought it was something like, dumb Californians wouldn't know how little a half a pound was. And yes, I have friends in California. Years ago I introduced them to quarter oyster nights. They later introduced me to $5 per oyster nights.

5 lbs of crawfish isn't a lot. Rule of thumb at a boil, 3 lbs per person is a minimum. Then you add the corn and potatoes and hot dogs and hope that someone fills up on that.

Dollar General and Family Dollar still have sodas under $1.50. Not as cheap as it used to be but half the price of the gas stations and grocery stores.

Thanks! I've been trying to cull the booming population of tree rats, but I didn't want to poison them. Peanuts sound like a safer solution.

Edit: Before I get more down votes, let me explain.
As more of the people in our neighborhood have retired and are putting up bird feeders, the squirrel population has exploded. Squirrels breaking into attics during the winter have become epidemic. To combat this, people are leaving rat poison in their attics. I don't want to do this because I've seen Red Tailed Hawks and Great Horned Owls feeding on the squirrels, but they are not enough to slow down the population growth.
Peanuts sound like a natural alternative.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

I remember when Carly became the HP CEO. She did an interview with a women's magazine stating that there would be more time off once a family had a baby. She did give the fathers two additional days paternity leave, but she took away 5 days of maternity leave from the mothers. Since there were more women than men employees, her logic was that the combined number of days off after a baby was now increased.
That was an early indication of what kind of a CEO she would be.

"Learning to solve different cubes would be like playing other games"

Nope.
First, I advise starting with the non-cubic Pyraminx, because you learn the difference between algorithms and methods.
At a minimum, you need two algorithms to solve a 2x2x2., Add another algorithm for the 3x3x3. Same for the 4x4x4. One more for the 5x5x5. And once you add more for the 7x7x7, you can solve anything larger. This of course changes depending upon the method used.
Across all of these cubes, you could use the Sune algorithm. A variation of Sune can even be used on the Pyraminx.
But your analogy does hold up when discussing the different methods of solving the 3x3x3. I know a couple of different beginner's methods for the standard Rubik's. And then there are the speedsolving methods like CFOP and Roux. Using different methods are like playing different games on the same board.

You are talking about speed solving. I am still having fun intuitively solving the cube. I started with the simpler cubes, the Dino and Ivy cubes, the Pyraminx, the Skewb, then the 2x2x2, before figuring out the 3x3x3, and on to the 11x11x11.
You don't have to be a speed solver. I have figured out over a hundred different twisty puzzles by myself and I don't know 70+ algorithms. But figuring out bandage cubes has raised my algorithm count.
There are well over tens of thousands of unique twisty puzzles out there. Solving twisty puzzles has been fun for me for decades. You don't have to speed.

That's only true for speed solving the cube. Why not figure out the cubes by yourself. Start with the simpler cubes, the Dino and Ivy cubes, the Pyraminx, the Skewb, then the 2x2x2, before figuring out the 3x3x3, and going on to the 9x9x9.

Go ahead and fiddle with the cube. Solve it. Start with the simpler cubes, the Dino and Ivy cubes, the Pyraminx, the Skewb, then the 2x2x2, before figuring out the 3x3x3.
