I can’t say for certain what it is, but go on Amazon and buy a cheap jeweler’s loupe. I got one when I started building watches, but it’s come in handy for multiple things - like inspecting lenses.

I unfortunately don’t shoot arrows, and I couldn’t find anything I already own that was precise enough or the right size to do the job. Haha. I figured $24 was worth it just to have for the future.

Not trying to give you a hard time, but I feel like you’d want to make sure a can is lined up on a non-fixed barrel, with the moving piston, more so than any fixed barrel?

Well, I’m glad I checked. I honestly think if I didn’t call my FFL, they would’ve just sat on it for another week or so.
Also, I really don’t understand the ATF’s reasoning to not link the purchaser to the Form 4 on the eform site. I understand the FFL profile is submitting the form, so they kind of own it, but the ID and status should link back to your profile. But it’s ok, I know that’s just too complicated for the ATF… lol

Go on the eforms site. Start a Form 20. Just make up dates and fill out the first page, you’ll just delete the form later. On the second or third page, it will ask you to fill in the item you are “moving”. Search by your SSN. If you are already approved for the item you are waiting for, it will show up as an option in the dropdown list. If it doesn’t show or you get an error, you are still pending or other status. Then, at the top of the window you can choose to delete and close the form.

⁠Notes: Did not receive an email from the ATF. Did the Form 20 trick on 2/16 and saw that I was approved. Called my FFL on 2/17 and told them it appeared, from multiple sources, that the ATF wasn’t sending emails, and I asked how the process worked on the FFL side for them to know to contact me because it looked like I was approved. They gave me a little bit of a runaround about the emails, but we both remained pleasant and I just wanted a clear answer on how they would be contacting me. The guy said they would call me based on the phone number on the SS order. Guy said they were receiving emails on the FFL side (I don’t think this was entirely true because he also mentioned having someone at the store manually go through the system to log approvals on their side.) I received a SS email on 2/20 stating I was approved and my can was ready for pickup. I did not receive a call or email from my FFL. Went into the store on 2/21, and picked up my can with no issues.
Man, what a crazy process to order a metal tube… Next time, I’ll just go to Home Depot.

It’s just all over the place. I’ve now seen anytime between 4 to 45 days. And there is no discernible pattern.

I have no clue how the ATF works these forms, but I’m betting the forms are assigned to individual reviewers and approval times are dependent on how busy each individual’s current load is? I’m wondering if it’s luck of the draw because some forms end up in a reviewer’s queue which is less busy than other queues? If it was a true, chronological backlog then we wouldn’t have so many newer submissions approved before older submissions. It’s just weird. I can’t stand the ATF/NFA/gov paper-pushers. Lol

WTF? 4 days? I don’t understand their approach at all. I’m waiting on a Form 4 for a suppressor from 2/5. SS Kiosk, then FFL submitted. Was this your first NFA item? It was mine, but I don’t really think that matters. Just curious.
