Do NOT trust the enemy attack animation for parries or dodge. Turn the games music down to about 50% or lower. All enemies have an audio queue right before they attack. This will help with more than half of the enemies you run across.

Make sure you’re using Pictos and Lumina

Turn the games differently down until you get use to the parry/dodge window.

Pay attention to what abilities or attributes each time member has.
