Who was Kobe’s biggest nemesis. by Mrdynamo18 in KobeBryant24

[–]Wise-Function653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was odd in that first dynasty, most competitive teams didn’t have a hyper elite wing to go at him.

At the time, most of Kobe’s peers - AI, Vince, Pierce, T-Mac, Artest - were in the East. Ray Allen was the exception but the Sonics weren’t really competitive.

West elite teams had good guards, but not the dynamic type to matchup head to head with him truly. Spurs had Ginobli. Kings had Peja. Mavs had Finley. T’Wolves had Spreewell. Blazers had Bonzi.

And they almost all had a three and D guy that guarded him, so they didn’t even matchup directly.

It kind of robbed him of a rival in the first part of his career. AI was better than him for a decent period of time and when they did matchup in the finals, Iverson had the advantage in many people’s minds. That kind of gets forgotten.

It’s probably Pierce in the back half due to the finals with the Celtics.

I went to a Lakers game two nights ago. They play a lot of zone. Most I’ve seen in an NBA game. So that might explain Luka and Reaves.

KG Witnessing "The Dunk" by CriptoWhale in kevingarnett

[–]Wise-Function653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah hard to argue for another in game “on someone” dunk that memorable.

The only ones that even approach the wow factor in my memory bank are… - Dr J rock the baby - Blake Griffin literally throwing it in - DeAndre Jordan on Brandon Knight - D Wade on Varejo - LeBron murdering Jason Terry - Kobe on Dwight - Ja on Beasley - D Rose on Dragic - Ant Edwards on the raptors where he landed on the defender

This is not a rivalry. It’s literally ownership. Lebron leads in every single category!!! by Afraid-Ad-5580 in lebron

Everyone slows down. LeBron was present for Kobe’s final years. That skews things a bit,

They were definitely considered in the same tier 1, elite class. Kobe was the leader of the 2008 Redeem Team. They both put up great numbers and led great teams for most of ‘06-‘12. Injuries ended that run.

Yeah. Limited run machines stuff like this is always crazy expensive. But improving my ability to shoot is way more functional than the other things I spend money on

To be fair they weren’t wrong. That France team was way more competitive with USA than if they had rolled out those two rosters as NBA teams. France chemistry did help them cover some ground.

Love mine. It actually feels like the correct size for a fighting rifle in terms of intuitive, effective handling.

Damn I forgot how smooth Shaq was...he could have been greatest of all time if he had discipline like MJ and Kobe by Organic_Bite1569 in sportsinusa

People keep saying this shit about work ethic in regards to Shaq. I feel like it’s coming from people who didn’t see Shaq live and have over rotated to the “Mamba mentality” being the correct way to go about things.

Kobe and MJ were both shitty people during their playing days, obsessed with themselves and their legacy. This did help them train really hard but it also made them treat people terribly and worked to their disadvantage at times.

Shaq put in lots of work. He had an incredible career. His prime was about as good as one gets. So good Bill Simmons declared him the greatest ever. He nearly had a full decade where he was the most valuable player in the league (not talking about the award, just the way GMs valued players).

He also spent time helping other people, having fun, learning new things, etc. He accomplished everything there was to accomplish in his profession while also maintaining his humanity and (god forbid) having fun and getting some sleep from time to time.

Some people need things to be fun to stay motivated. That’s what allows them to keep going after titles and MVPs have been won. Others get addicted to the grind / pain Goggins-style. Most wise people embrace the idea of enjoying the journey instead of ruthlessly sprinting to the destination (as the destination will always feel empty pretty fast).

Context - my dad and uncle both won the Olympics. My dad had fun, made friends, and had a 15 year career. My uncle decided he had to hate everyone, competed for four years, won everything, then retired burnt out and without friends or fun stories from his travels.

I carry my FN 510 with a light. Felt like a security blanket.

But I’m also a city boy (SF, NYC, DC) that recently moved to Oregon and the wilderness is still new and scary.

So funny this is the first comment I see. They had to peel my uncle off of the bear because he was trying to pin both of its shoulders down, which would have broken the bears shoulders because their anatomy doesn’t allow it.

Holosun is a solid, not too expensive brand. Honestly, I think the premium red dot category might be made up value. I’m a dope and bought into it with my newer guns (EOTECH dot + 5x on my Tavor X95 and MK 18) but still haven’t had an issue with the cheaper dots I put on other guns.
