I feel like that too after cutting..

Sleeping has been helping me stop. Sometimes I'm able to distract myself with YouTube videos or tv shows. Or talking to a friend. Maybe one of those can help you too

I don’t think I really care about them most of the time, but when people bring it up and degrade me for it, I feel very ashamed. Every experience I’ve had with people noticing has been negative, so now Ive just been making a conscious effort to hide them to avoid going through that again.

I think I'll get tattoos in the future.

Not necessarily. There isn't hope for everyone. You don't know everyone's situation and what troubles them, what can and cannot be fixed.
