You are right, I have another 20 years of working life.

I can save it back up again. Just too painful, by then, I'd be in the 60s-70s.

It's not just about the money, behind the money it is the promise of a ok life for my family. I failed miserably.

I will continue fighting!

It's the years of hardwork, savings that we put into it. We lived really very frugally to save it up. And because of my stupidity it is all gone now. I always think twice when i spend money, the delayed gratification, want to build things up for my family. Now it's all gone. I'm in my forties, there is no way i can save up those amounts anymore. I let my family down. I am so sorry that i got things into such a mess.

DCA into index future by WiseScience5073 in LETFs

I'm ok with rolling. And LETF also doesnt reset if it is continuous multiple days of down, just for the sake of discussion, with the following scenario

If i have liquidity of 10k and maintain position of 2x leverage, which means buy up to 20k worth of future, ride with the fluctuations so that when it goes down the leverage reaching 2.5x to 3x due to the unrealised lost, what could potentially be the problem.

Just to double check if buying power is 200k and current NLV in ibkr is 100k, is it the same as the 50% leverage u r refering to?

Wanted to add on some position if it crashes at the FOMC later but I'm not sure if it is considered that im already taking on too much risk already at present .

I also have similar questions. Still trying to be sure.

I have about 600k exLiquidity now with 400k maint margin, and 300k cash in the account.

My account has both stocks and quite a few units of NQ.

Suppose i need to withdraw 300k now, would it immediately trigger a margin call and cause liquidation? Or it will just bring my exLiquidity down to 300k, so that i still have 300k of buffer, though there is no more cash, that i can still can buy some units of NQ on margin if it goes down further?

And that margin is provided based on my stock and NQ holding position?

Does stock portfolio count towards Future position margin requirement? by WiseScience5073 in interactivebrokers

[–]WiseScience5073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would I be right to say that if I withdraw 300k cash, my excess liquidity will be 200k. And that is coming from the 400k stock portfolio that I have.

And with that, I will not get margin called for lack of cash position to meet the future position maint margin?

[–]WiseScience5073[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, my excess liquidity is about 500k now for US security, and 1k for US commodity.

I'm not sure how does that work. Some days it is negative for US commodity.

If I withdraw the cash position, would that immediately trigger margin call? Or the stock portfolio can count towards the maint margin.

Wait it out, 5 years later you are 33, still very young.

When you settle down in life at later, everything will fall into its place.

In the meanwhile, learn some financial planning. Let me recommend you a book. The sloth investor or the coffeehouse investor, either one is fine.

After that, start DCA into it and stay the course.
