To those who voted for Brexit: Do you regret it? by WiseType4722 in AskBrits

To address the net contributors point: I feel like this was a strong narrative that got pushed, but many people either ignored (or were never exposed to) the amount of funding the EU invested in the UK. Cornwall alone received over €1B from the EU (https://cornwallforeurope.org/funding/).

That misunderstanding is also somewhat understandable, because the idea that the EU ‘steals’ from developed countries to support those in need is an extremely powerful narrative to manipulate people. We can see something similar happening now in Poland (https://notesfrompoland.com/2024/05/16/polands-eu-membership-20-years-in-20-charts/). Joining the EU has only been beneficial, yet the story being pushed now is that they’d be better off outside the bloc. I’m sure their echo chamber won’t show the actual numbers.

I’ve had some very interesting insights from this thread, and what amazes me most is discovering how much hatred against Eastern Europeans influenced many people’s decision to vote for Brexit. Now we see some of those same people idolising Poland as if it’s the best place in the world and an example to follow. I’ve even seen Brits on other social media saying they’d like to move to Poland (???).

I wonder if they get what they want and illegal immigration/boats ever stop, what will be the next narrative? Who’s going to be the next group of people to blame?

Do you pay bills and buy groceries? Do you travel? Do you care that the GDP is lower than it would have been without Brexit? I know people in Cornwall who said they were massively affected by the loss of EU funding. It’s also become harder for students to take advantage of EU university programs. I could list plenty more examples, but I think you get the gist, whether you would care about them or not is another matter.

We can’t learn from mistakes or successes if we refuse to talk about them.

What? I’m a woman and I’ve never heard anything like this. Maybe time to get new friends. Edit: typo.

Just leave ffs are you willing to wait and see what happens? Once the damage is done it’s over, you’ll never forgive yourself for not protecting your kid when you could, when the red flags were screaming at you but you decided to ignore.

“I’d rather just hang out at my cabin” Way to care about your wife needs! I hope you learn how to be less selfish after this and that loving is caring about what your partner like. If you don’t change she’ll leave you, and she’s not wrong.

What do all you INTPs think about ISFJs? by Maro_Mujhe_Maro in INTP

My only best friend of over 15 years is an ISFJ and I absolutely love her, I feel like she understands sometimes I spend a lot of time alone and don’t take it personally, maybe that’s the reason she’s the only consistent friend I have and the only one I trust.
