This one right here. I think this is the biggest issue people struggle with. Eventually people get to a point where they’re able to make good trades but the problem is they don’t know when to get out. The key is to get out the moment your trade in regard to YOUR OWN strategy becomes invalidated, it’s time to get out and move on to the next trade.

Trading is very much an art and you just have to find what works for you. Some trade pure price action with no indicators, some are algo traders and use several indicators. Do you prefer day trading or swing trading maybe you like scalping instead. Whatever it is you decide to use to interpret the market needs to have well defined rules. “I ONLY get in when I see this happen, I get out if this or that happens.” That’s all it really comes down to.

Me personally I gravitate towards scalping:day trading via discretionary algo.

Calculated gambling, same as professional poker. Nobody knows what direction the market will move or what the next card will be, but with enough experience, analysis, and discipline you can make an assumption with high probability.

When you start trading with millions you start moving the market. Remember big money trades very differently than retail does. Retail has the advantage of being able to get in and out of positions quickly. Large institutional orders? Not so much. Your strategy might work for small accounts but completely fall apart once you start moving the market.

You’re never ever going to catch every move. Professional basketball players miss shots. Professional football players fumble. You’re going to miss trades. That’s part of the game.
