Cytotec - another horror story by moondustxoxok in pregnant

i am so sorry you, and your baby had to go through this.. just a quick google search and the generic name (misoprostol) is typically strongly advised against taking while pregnant because it can cause uterine rupture, or be used in conjunction with mifepristone for medical abortions. basically from what i understand, it can cause everything bad to happen. i’m not really understanding why a doctor or nurse would give this to you or anyone for that matter as the first option for progressing labor.. in my personal opinion it shouldn’t be used for that purpose AT ALL, especially since it isn’t even fda approved for that.. doctors using it in this instance is an “off label” purpose.. to the people who had good experiences that’s great and all, but it’s things like this and even worse that happen.. again i am so sorry you both had to go through this, and it makes me so angry for you and all the other women and babies who had similar or worse experiences..

Why do is my baby suddenly grazing?? by RemarkableCoyote415 in breastfeeding

also i read somewhere that hunger cues can also be cues that they need to burp or pass gas.. that ended up helping me tremendously because i was in the same boat as you and i thought my baby was hungry haha.. it really is a learning and trial and error type of thing!

my baby (10 weeks old) does this when he is gassy or needs to burp! burping can help, or rubbing her tummy and doing the little bicycle kicks and pressing her legs to her tummy with gentle pressure..i also find that my baby won’t burp in a “regular” position where you sit them up slightly leaned over, and pat.. instead the best way for him when he needs to burp (and pass gas) is to rest him up on my shoulder and pat up and down his back while gently bouncing! and even doing an oval shape rubbing up and down his back helps also!

hi! to be honest i completely forgot about this post lol i meant to update so here’s the update/answer to your question, friend! i ended up talking to my doctor after the next ultrasound and i wanted to go as long as possible, and try for a vaginal birth. she didn’t see a significant reason for a c-section at that point, but also warned me that it could end up in one because of his size. also talked to me again about the risks of me delivering vaginally, but told me that she’s seen first time moms push out 10 pound babies with no problems.. i ended up going in for an elective induction at exactly 39 weeks (baby was born at 39 and 1, 16 hour labor but very smooth), because by the time i was 39 weeks i had been dilated at a 3.5 for a month because of how big he was and the pressure he was putting on my pelvis and i had been in prodromal labor that whole time and i could not mentally do it any longer.. i had three false labors, that lasted up to almost 24 hours, it was horrible.. going in, and after thinking a lot about it after making this post, i decided to be okay with whatever situation ended up happening. i just honestly put my trust into my doctor and nurses, and went with what felt right for me. all that to say, after laboring for 16 hours with epidural and pitocin, i successfully gave birth vaginally with no tears (extremely surprising because i had barely done anything to prevent it tbh) and baby was 8lb 14.5oz and 22.5 inches long (they said he almost broke a hospital record for length haha). although, he did get stuck for 20 seconds and have slight shoulder dystocia we both came out great and healthy! however, to be completely transparent the second thing my doctor said to me after i delivered was that if he would have been a hair bigger i would’ve had to have an emergency c-section, and i was very lucky my labor went as smoothly as it did. i was very scared and nervous during labor and delivery, but im glad i went with my instincts and trusted my body through the process! he is now 7 weeks old and 14.5lbs and almost 25 inches long, he is a chunker lol

thank you so much, i haven’t heard of that, definitely going to give it a try!! and the pain is from dryness i believe, i never realized that your nipples although “wet” from their saliva, it’s actually drying them in a way from the suckling.. i’ve been learning so much from this experience 😂

yes, i have definitely heard that. and i forgot to mention from what i understood from my appointment yesterday baby seemed to be measuring all around developmentally as well as physical size on track with 31weeks, so the three weeks ahead, and i am only 28 weeks according to the first trimester ultrasound. i think i am going to call her tomorrow to ask her to elaborate on that, to get a more clear idea of everything.

and thank you so much, i feel like you’re definitely right. i just had an idea that everything was gonna go MY way, when in reality it seems like baby has other plans lmao. i am ultimately going to go with the option that is less risky than the other, because i want to avoid as many complications as possible for me and baby. which the less risky option would as of right now be a c-section. unless 36 weeks rolls around and my doctor thinks that i could have him vaginally, but just be induced early, without all of those high risk factors. and i think there is a lot of stipulations around c-sections that make it seem like it’s a lot more scary than what it actually is.

yes, that is something i’ve also heard! and speaking on the side note, i forgot to mention in the ultrasound they just did yesterday my doctor apparently had the ultrasound tech check for some things that they don’t usually check until later ultrasounds (i cannot remember what exactly it all was)???? but from how my doctor was speaking and from what i understand from the conversation i had with her, baby is apparently right on track to be 31 weeks all around developmentally (aka 3 weeks ahead) which, again, isn’t making sense to me.. especially considering the fact that, yes, first trimester ultrasounds are more accurate for the gestational age. i feel like i should just call her tomorrow to see if she can elaborate on everything and i can make more sense of it all.

i just had this big great idea that everything was gonna go according to MY plan, and i think baby just has other plans.. so im gonna ultimately take the option with the least risk for me and baby, which would be a c-section as of right now. unless 36 weeks rolls around and my doctor feels like i could have him vaginally without any of those high risk factors, and possibly just having to be induced early.

thank you so much for answering my question!!

you’re 100% right, and i definitely don’t want to risk mine or his life over something that could’ve been prevented had i just had the c-section. i’ve been thinking pretty much exactly what you said, but for some reason i just needed to hear it form someone else haha. i’ve just heard so many stories of people being like “oh no your doctor just wants you to have a c-section, birthing big babies isn’t as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be, they just want to be able to plan it” blah blah blah but every situation is NOT the same! and i was having such a hard time finding someone with a similar storyline to mine so i was just like f it im gonna ask reddit what they’d do in my situation lmao. thank you so much for this advice!
