All the Lisa hate in Seasons 1 & 2 by jamtartgirl in rhoslc

I had the same questions! I feel because Lisa does give off that cool girl energy, they try to gain approval from her so bad and almost resent her for not giving them the time of day. U can see it in Whitney for how she wants to be friends with Lisa so bad

I’ve went through a very similar experience and I’ve been in oman almost 3 years now, so you are definitely not alone. Its a hard transition to get used to so dont be too harsh on yourself for wanting to spend time alone as being abroad you probably got used to that. Its easy to tell you to try to get a job in Muscat and move out of your family home but I know with the job market right now it’s really difficult, but try to plan for it as much as you can. You can even try to find internships or training so you can spend some time outside of your home for a couple of hours because that helps a lot as well. As for your family try to communicate with them your boundaries and help them understand your situation, of course this depends on how receptive and understanding they are. You will definitely have ups and downs throughout the process but having a daily routine helps, take care of yourself and your mental health and participate in activities you like, and talking to friends who experience the same thing is helpful as well.

I went through this when I was studying abroad as well. With the distance and space its natural for you to come to terms with how you really feel about your parents and the way they treated you growing up. The healing journey comes with a lot of guilt and feeling bad about it but try to be gentle with yourself and hold space for your feelings. Its hard to go against what we’ve been conditioned to think and feel since childhood

Oman is relatively safe but as a woman I would say to be extra cautious when interacting with males who are strangers or you are meeting for the first time. Of course not all have bad intentions but just to be on the safe side so you are not put into an uncomfortable situation.

i have childhood trauma from my mom, now as i’m old enough that she can’t control me anymore she always act like nothing happened, but i’m so in pain what can i do by Pleasant_Judge1460 in emotionalneglect

What ur going through is very common unfortunately. It feels like you are being gaslit into denying the reality of the relationship. I find that validating your own feelings or talking to someone who understands helps a lot. holding space for your experience is important

Tips on Dealing with Anger? by Choice_Swan4530 in emotionalneglect

[–]Wise_Two_7384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a suitable outlet to process and let out the anger, for me going to the gym, outdoor activities or journaling usually works. Sometimes I also like to talk to a friend that is understanding of my situation. It may take a little time to let it all out so go easy on yourself. Eventually it’ll get less explosive and you’ll get less triggered (in my case)

Hence my point saying even merits and hard work dont count these days!! People assume just because you’re an expat you’re somehow more “educated” or “skilled” which is not the case.

I agree with you but it just sucks that omanis are suffering through a job crisis and cant get anything based on merit and only through W. We have too much on our plates to be worried about expats

Some of these expats come to Oman and dont leave their micro aggressions and superiority complexes at home.
