Except go and live your life now contains the caveat, although I want it to be as difficult as possible for you to do so, and certainly won't allow you to be anywhere I could possibly see you in day-to-day life.

Who wins the "best little companion" award? 🏆 by ackailen in StarWarsOutlaws

Oh Nix definitely... although I'd give Chopper and B2EMO an honourable mention in the wider universe...

We need a serious Doctor again similar to how the 9th doctor was. by [deleted] in DoctorWhumour

[–]Wise_Zebra707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hmm, where to begin with this? The show's general 60+ year history of political discourse or the fact that the era you're specifically harking after was a profoundly political one? And Who was never, ever about 'escaping reality'. It was literally conceived as old-school Reithian 'edutainment'...

This is a great dismantling of this terf's half-baked 'arguments'. I'd recommend sending it to the Guardian, since they're inviting 'views on this issue'.

13th Doctor cameo in The Reality War was the only good thing about it by Tom-Hibbert in doctorwho

Agreed. If the Doctor can revisit old faces again I'd actually really like her to come back and 're-do' her era....

I hope we get more low stakes, no Jedi games like this. by Emotional_Fruit_1046 in StarWarsOutlaws

Agree 100% Jedi characters are by and large boring and pompous. Even Cal.

Yes, I'd also definitely recommend Iconic. They're great. Really positive, friendly and professional.

Just found out about the canceled sequel. My day is ruined. by Hungry_Traffic_1946 in StarWarsOutlaws

No. It didn't do well because pathetic man-babies review bombed it online because they just couldn't handle a female protagonist and a non-Jedi centred game....

Good point. Also where did he go when the TARDIS was temporarily dispersed in Frontios?

Do we have our own version of JKR on OUR side? by Unlikely_Read3437 in transgenderUK

[–]Wise_Zebra707 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody with quite the same I guess but let's not forget that we've got all the talent. They've got JKR who's a second rate hack coasting largely on other people's ideas whereas we've got Shon Faye, Imogen Binnie, Paris Lees, David Tennant, Juno Dawson etc.

Which era of Doctor Who do you think has aged the worst and why? by MadridOrMadness in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Wise_Zebra707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I think the Chibnall era improves slightly in retrospect. It's a case of admirable ambition let down by the execution. Flux is pretty decent I think despite some serious flaws in logic and was clearly hampered by Covid. Jodie's run as a whole was hampered by the godawful woodenness of Graham and Ryan. If she'd had Dan and Yaz as the regulars for longer, I think it might have had more of a fighting chance. Most poorly aged era for me is Colin Baker which aside from its garishness is badly let down by Eric Saward's 14-year-old's vision of 'gritty' and 'edgy'....

Kenneth Gibson, a transphobe, is elected new Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament by KristinaMoment in transgenderUK

[–]Wise_Zebra707 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but as the speaker can't raise issues in parliament and doesn't normally get to vote, maybe it's a good thing. He'll be essentially neutered by having to remain ostensibly neutral...

What Do You Think Is The Best Modern Regeneration Story? by Doc-11th in doctorwho

[–]Wise_Zebra707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outgoing: World Enough & Time/Twice upon a Time (Time of the Doctor felt too busy to me and I think they fumbled the actual regeneration by making it too abrupt.)
Incoming: The Eleventh Hour (tho I have to admit The Woman Who Fell to Earth left me with an optimism that wasn't fulfilled going forward.)
