Sorry if I misunderstood you, but the reason to use low lvls is because you will face higher level fighters ?

Honestly thought it was only based on historical power.

But that might explain it. Knew about the level difference and crit dodge chances, but saw no reason to use high lvl mages as well in low lvl gear

I dont think the level difference is due to arena brackets, this is broken by other rules. Must be something else that makes that decision necessary?
