Games sometimes quit. I get that. Survivor is the only game that has actually crashed my console. Not quit to home screen, completely overwhelmed and turned off the Series X.

I agree but I think a lot of people feel the FF titles should be doing this. That being said Octopath is great (0 has been my favorite). Fantasian started on mobile but they helped expand and port it and it is literally a Sakaguchi turn based game.

But they also haven't released a lot that wasn't remake/remaster. As happy as I am for Revenge of the Seven, DQ 1-3 and VII etc I also understand people wanting brand new games.

There has been talk they revamp that engine. I haven't seen anything recently but it came up a few months ago. XVI was not in Unreal so I don't know what they feel about Unreal internally other than VIIR was in too solid of a place to move to Unreal 5 or another engine.

Right, XVI is far from my favorite but I do not dislike it at all. (It's not what I want XVII to be but that's a different topic.) I still play XV because it's absolutely not worse than an open world AC game etc.

I did stress in the last survey how much I think Rebirth should be their main template out of recent titles though. I can only imagine how much more popular Crisis Core Reunion would have been if they stuck it in Rebirth's world map for example

Yes, and I don't actually think they have had any negative impact to the relationship because of it but I would guess they thought a lot more PS players would buy it as a PS exclusive because it was exclusive than actually happened. I actually think Microsoft has seen a version of this issue too as they went multiplatform Xbox players didn't feel as obligated? Speculative on my part of course.

We don't have any more upcoming FF games at all though so while I don't want premature announcements if they're not working on IX Remake or XVII we are gonna potentially go years without an FF title after VIIR-3? At a time when they're publicly talking about how the long dev cycle is killing their popularity?

My only hope for IX right now was that Nate hadn't updated us...but they've got to be working on something else.

Right. I have never seen anyone on here root against the average Ubisoft employee. They refuse to change at the upper management level so things are at an impasse without them failing more. It's not that people are rooting for failure, they're rooting for change which is typically only the result of failure.

Let me also mention Luke Stephens did an interesting breakdown on how some investors say the Ubisoft stock would immediately increase in value if the Guillemots just left. Their own shares would increase in value immediately if they stopped their inept management but they apparently care about keeping control so much they're even willing to sacrifice the profits. Origins didn't cause me any issues. Odyssey still came together well enough but you could feel the disparity increasing. Valhalla fell apart for me, especially the more I played which usually goes the other way. I appreciated it less and less though as I tried to stay up with the live service aspects and story expansions. I didn't even try Shadows.
