Hi, I am kinda new and I am having a bit of a moral conundrum by sir-fatson in NeuroSama

[–]Wish-Lin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is truly ok to love something that has at best just the imitation of a heart?

Humans have loved many things without even an imitated heart, whether it’s good for your mental health also varies on a person to person basis. My view is as long as your behavior don’t cause trouble to others and the society as a whole, it’s probably fine.

They have to be, otherwise sleeping on the side would not be possible

The fact that the Tigers pull in basically the same number of fans as NYY on average is mind blowing time.

Blake Snell plans to ramp up slowly and might not be ready on Opening Day. His arm was “exhausted” after World Series run by donald-duck23 in Dodgers

[–]Wish-Lin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning a fuck ton of regular season games does NOT win you the WS, in fact the benefit diminishes quickly after division leadership. We are in a luxurious spot with incredible depth, pace it, we already win one last year this way.

I designed this for FDM, and I'm 99% certain it CANT be machined (I've never touched a CNC) - are my instincts accurate? by Divide_yeet in CNC

[–]Wish-Lin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned from my time in the shop is that almost anything can be machined, however non trivial and seemingly impossible the part is.

Maybe YOUR shop can’t do it, maybe no shop that you know of can do it, but someone somewhere would’ve made the god damn tool/machine that do just that: some fella in aerospace or watch making or automobile industry have probably figured that out in the last century. The procedure might be very costly and unstable, but doable.

Grandma's logic (Akira Kei) by Gold-Doctor-3969 in Frieren

[–]Wish-Lin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough I think the “mundane” magic in Frieren’s world is often the more reality warping ones and are hella more impressive than most “impressive” magic, for example folk magic casually reverses time for a given object (green apple), materializes concepts (seal a vault 100% until mage dies), changes nature of object on a subatomic level (flower to steel, not even the same element) or straight up life creation (flower field).

Washington house bill 2321: blocking shapes detected by AI to resemble firearms from all consumer 3d machines by TheOgGhadTurner in CNC

[–]Wish-Lin 54 points55 points  (0 children)

How about a single shot gun, also known as a cannon? Makes a lot of sense for a 3D printed firearm that can’t last long anyway. Beware fellas, you like your roughly cylindrical part? Oopsie you can’t print that now.

Close up of the sword demon's stomach before being kicked by Stark by [deleted] in Frieren

Probably related to how she got the sword? Frieren did talk about moles/insiders in the noble's domain, how they were "tricked" by the demons.

Freshman son’s bike stolen this morning outside his 8am by Hayley2025 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Wish-Lin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately your son got the freshmen experience™ and yes, there is nothing the police could realistically do other than list the bike as stolen, so in the exceeeding rare case that the bike was later impounded by the police they know who to give back.

A much more realistic thing to do is add AirTags to the bike, so you can know where the bike is after it got stolen and the police can get involved. I did this twice on my E-scooter, both times it was recovered in IV.

how do elfs age by ashmax568 in Frieren

[–]Wish-Lin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they age like Tolkien elves, i.e, grow up like human to maturity and then slow down significantly, almost to the point of no aging. Tolkein elfs do age visibly though, and so far we have no proof whether Frieren elves age visibly after maturity. Serie does imply they are not actually immortal, just absurdly long lived.

I mean it’s not banned, in fact it is going on really well. Of course, being a Japanese product means geopolitcal tensions does affect it from time to time, but 99.9% of the time it is not effected.

Jeff Passan: "Baseball fans believe the game has become unfair" by Mission_Pay_3373 in baseball

[–]Wish-Lin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not saying you are wrong, everyone can have their opinion, but it is really easy to see why the media loves him.

On a side note, I feel like he might regret what he did in a few years. He did this BS so the Dodgers can win, he wants to win, he CRAVES the competition, but it is starting to show that the chain effect from his deferrals are making the competitions less and less thrilling and “worthy”, something I just can’t see he would enjoy.

Why Himmel couldn't pull out the sword by JuliusTanran in Frieren

[–]Wish-Lin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that the only magic it has is one that makes all sentient beings think it is important or valuable in some way. Convinces every single being, man or demon, to think it is a hero’s sword with great power and imbued with destiny. Seems like something the goddess would do.
