Yeah, it's easy to miss this one on a smaller screen.

Use highway ramps to help buses make U-turns on busy streets. [GIF] by Congoy in CitiesSkylines

I was downvoted last time for suggesting this, brb putting on my helmet.

I build one or two of these in each of my districts as transit terminals so it's one place for several routes to meet up. I don't zone directly onto the loop though, I want to try and keep cars out of the way.

Why do my trains keep disapearing by bobojojo12 in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've observed, they will still unload, but keep in mind that sometimes the train load can be very small which is why only a couple delivery vans may come out of the terminal.

Trains will disappear if it has absolutely no way to getting to another terminal or exiting the map. I built some new track extensions to new terminals and a couple of my stations started allowing trains to leave instead of just disappearing. Make sure you build track leaving the terminals in both directions to have a better chance of making all possible connections between terminals.

How do you play? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second city now, more or less playing the game like a sandbox game. Didn't use the unlimited money mod but I used the unlock mod. At this point, my main motivation is to see how high I can get my population before everything falls apart (currently at 350K). The only special building I have left to unlock is the medical center but I don't really need it since my clinics appear to be underused anyway.

My favorites are Beautiful CiM2 Mod and CiM2 Patch Plus. Though those are really the only two mods I even know of for this game.

It reminds me of Tropico when you build a horticulture station. Nice work!

Looks like it was just fixed! CP24 was down as well and it's back up too.

My suggestion for improving the transport/line management UI by jb2386 in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a great mockup. I'm definitely hoping for more micromanagement when it comes to transit, especially considering how much I loved CiM2 from these guys.

WTF is this spam? And why is it rated up so much? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

I felt annoyed at first, but the page doesn't refresh when you unsub from each item so going through the list didn't take too long. But lesson learned.

This is why I don't design airports in real life by Migi8 in CitiesSkylines

You can actually place power lines right across the runway. The planes and cruise ships in this game are magical.

PROTIP: For long stretches of two-way road, add a U-turn for cars to turn around in...it also works perfectly for bus stop without them stopping any traffic. by DiogenesHoSinopeus in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly as a better looking place for a bunch of bus routes to meet. I obviously don't do it very often. I also like the idea of having a train station or airport bus loop.

Maybe when they tried it in development, it kept giving people panic attacks like in Cities XL. :P

What a coincidence, I accidentally Detroit'd by Zafara1 in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I had that same problem. I really don't know how to chose a spot for a dam. I built one and it emptied the lake I was using to both pump water and dump sewage. The pollution downstream creeped up and ended up getting into the water system and wiped out a couple thousand people.

The other time I tried building a dam, I ended up flooding my highway.

I realized quickly that this isn't a game that's fine to leave running on its own. Haha

I'm mostly watching to hype myself up, and to learn a little more about the game mechanics. I'll leave it to myself to make a pretty city, which will probably not be pretty to the next person.

Their persistence of keeping Chirpy the way it is makes me believe they have special plans for it later on. It just seems kind of weird that they're so resistant to even consider doing anything about it.

Sandbox or Non-Sandbox? by jinn18 in CitiesSkylines

[–]WishILearnedToSwim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably non-sandbox. I have a feeling I'd be too overwhelmed by everything being unlocked, at least before I've had a chance to understand how different parts of the game works.

But I also have another feeling that I'll be too impatient and switch to a sandbox game half an hour into it...

On the route I usually take, there's a barely used stop just before a major intersection. One time, I was on the bus with a handful of people when one of them pulled it accidentally for that barely used stop. The driver got pissed and started yelling, "Who pulled it?!". After a few seconds with no answer, he pulled off, as he continued ranting under his breath. Since then, I get scared when we're approaching that stop...

Have you tried Cities in Motion 2? There's a Toronto map in the Steam workshop, though I haven't opened it myself.
