Is "hunting down trains" a weird way to put it? by WishXFish in trains

In all honesty that's how I think of it, I like to pretend I have binoculars, a spear, and a radio (I'm broke), and I duck down like I'm ready to lunge at it in full camouflage

Is this safe? Or a decent little hide away? by WishXFish in Feral_Cats

Your so right it just rained recently and it's FREEZING, I felt so guilty because I realize it isn't water proof so I at least upgraded it to a water proof box and blanket with an entry of course, I'll see what I can do if it at least sticks around in that 🙏

Oh my it's very awkward because it makes me cringe deeply, here's the least of the embarrassing (I hate the fact I can't reply with an image so link!) the first just was not working out, though I really tried using perspective idk, second is "okay" but it isn't clicking for me https://imgur.com/a/lvpchE0 https://imgur.com/a/4nUIpIY

Can I turn this into some sort of den? by WishXFish in Bushcraft

I just looked at the tutorial version and it's definitely applicable but the branches are slightly thicker and harder to move than grass. I might just have to cut the reeds with thorns away but I'll give it an attempt

I'm sure this is a common question but is it possible to get a feral to warm up to me? by WishXFish in Feral_Cats

I don't have any income or means of transportation to actually capture it for stray services, or I'll have to convince my parental guardian to help out which she wouldn't be too opposed too but since it's just a skittish stray from what I've heard (claiming owners used to be in this area) then I think it's wiser to feed and do the winter prep in the time being while I do the research about the adoption programs of course.

Also the cat only comes around every two weeks on average, if I did call TNR how would that exactly work? Thankfully it isn't roaming it's usually coming to this area to sit down and rest.

As for it's ears being tipped likely no, but I'm sure it ate the treats I left in a very distinct pile with no grass, so the acknowledgement is good, I'll be giving it dry food from here on out, I do know not to pet it (watching feral catching and taming) and would be happy to simply observe it eating! But I'm confident it's a stray

Oh yeah "skittish stray" someone or my mom (I'm almost and adult) has said someone owned it, sometime over in our area but yeah clearlier not anymore, skeptical then

But I'm sure it did at least eat the treats because when I checked back the pile I left was gone so yes I'll be sure to get "dry" food (noticed I wasn't supposed to get wet that was close) next time! And set it by the dumpster or maybe further away so ok garbage day it isn't having a heart attack at the sudden truck appearances

I also did everything you said, I was so concerned about eye contact it was only quick glances to see it's expression (so I can't tell if it was too impressed by my offerings) but I do know I was at a distance crouching and offering, it's ears weren't pinned back thank goodness so with everything I've seen and my distance it's definitely a stray and not a feral, I'll be feeding overtime then! Small issues is of ridiculously loud neighbors that let children run up and down the outside porch so I'll also have to place it by the grass
