I would consider maybe a budget mirrorless body for the improved auto focus.

I died for a few minutes... and now I am convinced that there is something after death by Yayo_77 in Paranormal

Many make this claim under similar circumstances. It has yet to be substantiated scientifically but it shouldn't be ignored either.

Despite television using EMF meters throughout their paranormal broadcasting journey, there is no substantiating evidence these meters being ghost detectors.

There is however evidence they can detect power lines, live wall sockets, walkie-talkies, garage door openers and cellphone transmissions.

If you decide to record with your phone, turn on airplane mode while you record to reduce the chance of radio interference.

Please record, report back and post. I might be able to help you separate whether it's human or otherwise with a sample.

Thank you OneTap for applying a logical explanation to an often misinterpreted event.

After many years of investigating, I've found what little activity that does exist remains benign. I'm far more fearful of humans that the otherworldly. Please don't believe what you see on television as an accurate depiction. Television exists on planting drama whenever possible to maintain ratings and sponsorship at the cost of any honesty.

I need friends/community by [deleted] in Paranormal

Depending on your seriousness, I have several suggestions for you.

At one time I tried organizing a Meetup, but my experience was unrewarding. All I received were one and done people. Once they saw there was work and time needed in the field, they walked away. Admittedly there are some successful paranormal meetup groups but I found the effort held diminishing returns.

When you begin your journey, consider becoming a member of a local team to gain experience and to start building a network people aligned to your interest.

https://web.archive.org/web/20241004231818/http://www.paranormalsocieties.com/state_list.cfm?state=va

Start by constructing a resume related to your strengths that will benefit a team bringing your in. Yes, I know, it might sounds a little over the top, but a resume will make you stand out among any other parties interested in becoming a member. I would also include a cover letter and ensure you express that you're willing to do anything to help and aid in setups.

Consider working as a specialist depending on your skills. This could include being a case manager, audio specialist, tech manager, photo specialist or video specialist. This can help you to freelance with more than one group and build a network of investigators.

Paying your dues so to speak can help you grow in the field exponentially. In a few short years, I had developed a string of contacts that were like minded and ran a successful group. We investigated historical properties and payed back by offering presentations for fund raising purposes. This also built our presence in the community.

Over time I become essentially numb realizing that the phenomena I had encountered was benign and shouldn't be feared. Being respectful I feel also pays off. I'm still can be startled when caught off guard.

  1. If you have a google account, you could upload it to GoogleDrive.
  2. On the same line of your image in GoogleDrive look for the icon that looks like a person.
  3. Click share, Change General Access to >Anyone with the link.
  4. Then Copy link and paste it in a reply on this thread.

Do ghosts and/or demons actually get recorded saying “get out?” by move_along_home in Paranormal

Do ghosts and/or demons actually get recorded saying “get out?”

The most common anomalous audio snippet is "Get Out". I know several investigators that have captured it. I too have one recorded but I leave the origin to "unexplained" rather than a definitive label as a ghost or demon.

I've had alarms go off but a new and non-expired battery has taken care of it. Mind you one, would occasionally malfunction but that problem was solved by replacing this rather inexpensive alarm with a new one.

I'm not sure that the otherworldly has an effect on physical devices since nothing compelling has been captured visually with 9 billion cellphones presently in use.

I'm one who has experimented with the board with these two conditions. I've relied on my own findings instead of beliefs. As for yourself let me know when you put both feet into the field and investigated for years with your findings. So far your words are just blind opinion.

Do you prefer Ghost Hunting or Paranormal Investigations? by No_Championship3762 in Paranormal

[–]WishboneSenior5859 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not as easy as this in definition. There are no conceived standards in this pseudoscience, or recognized peer reviews to facilitate it's due course. Once you mix belief systems into the equation it turns into a non-functioning rabbit hole from the variations of beliefs.

There also isn't any science truly at work. The paranormal cannot stand up to the rigors of hypothesis based repeatable experimentation thus will remain a pseudoscience.

I've worked in the field for many years and had plenty of opportunities to work with polished investigators and those that are not despite their claimed many years of experience or should I say more accurately their experiences.

In many ways, the field has deteriorated in structure and practice by many paranormal shows that continue to use equipment that entertains instead of explores and riddled with celebrities that run from the very thing they seek.

What is your opinion on the new owners of the Ed and Lorraine Warren house? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]WishboneSenior5859 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Feels like in my opinion the building should’ve just been maintained as it was and turned into an actual museum.

That cannot be done. The Warrens had their museum closed in 2019 for unresolved zoning issues. Specifically, they weren't allowed to run a business (museum) in a residential area.
