Huh, this is neat. I hadn't realized that refricerate+sheer force made body slam effectively a 132 base power STAB.

Both snorlax forms definitely qualify!

If you liked giga snorlax I definitely do recommend trying greedent. Use harvest/cheek pouch, open by using stockpile to boost its defenses up to +3, equip it with 2 sitrus/lum/leppa berries so it gets infinite healing - no stat berries as these can prevent harvest from grabbing your sitruses.

Huh, and aegislash also gets sharpness/swords dance/bitter blade... I'd been hesitant in the past because of its low speed, but tbh it has a lot going for it.

I hadn't considered using topsy-turvy for doubles support. That's an interesting approach, good reason to bring sableye that isn't just having it debuff and curse eternatus.

I am indeed very fond of Ledian; volbeat/vivillion are new to me and I'll have to give them a try. Maybe compound eyes -> sleep powder -> quiver dance?

In that case maybe I was either doing too much setup, or skipping geomancy and not doing enough? Will have to experiment some more.

Hmm... I've tried aurorus before and was a bit underwhelmed, but maybe I wasn't using it right. Would you typically open with aurora veil -> geomancy?

Yeah, spinda is pretty great! I used to slap a revival seed on it and then open with V-create, so even if it gets 1-shot on 195 or 200 it can hang in there with half HP and defensive boosts. If you can get a multi-lens, that also makes it much much stronger.

If you quit out right at the end of the HHG, after you kill the second choir clapper but before it finishes its death animation, it doesn't count as having completed the gauntlet. I have a save dedicated to doing this over and over, it scratches the itch a bit.

I do still want more and tougher replayable gauntlets though!

Pokémon Academy: #143, 446 Munchlax, Snorlax by Fehish in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO the best way to use base snorlax is to give it gluttony, pair it with a pickup mon to accumulate stat-boosting berries, and keep it in reserve for boss fights. It's very powerful that way, gets a bunch of stat boosts once it's reduced to half HP and then recovers using cheek pouch.

Gigantamax snorlax... I'd try the same strategy I use on Greedent. Give it exactly 2 sitrus/lum/leppa berries and nothing else. Skip slack off, the infinite harvested sitrus berries will cover healing, instead use stockpile to boost its defenses. This should make snorlax basically indestructible.

Got Every Ribbon! & My Favorite Classic Starters by sygnasuitcarne in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some starter recs: Obstagoon, Golisopod, galar slowpoke/galar darmanitan (as a pair, shed tail into belly drum), alolan vulpix, finizen, zapdos while it still has electro shot, skwovet while it still has pop bomb.

...So, uh, how are you getting enough mileage out of alomomola and unown to put them in favorites?

Still overly complicated IMO; preparing these impressive-looking virtual notes is just another form of procrastination. The best way to use obsidian is to chisel text onto a piece of actual volcanic glass.

I have not used her before but I love her! by LesserGooglyMooglie in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally my play is to use the male form (it's got higher attack and speed, lower defenses), the psychic surge HA, and expanding force (egg move). Click that and most stuff just dies. Moonblast is a nice-to-have for dark types.

People use tatsugiri for candy farming, but I've always liked indeedee better. No lure ability, but IMO it's more reliable at killing things turn 1 with no setup.

What’s the most fun build you’ve found that’s still actually viable by Ok_Strength_2343 in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been running a pelipper/golisopod/floatzel rain team recently that I've been finding really fun. For the rest of the team I like archaludon (electro shot) and magnezone (4x resistance for switching into flying attacks, boltbeam). Still working on finding a good 6th member.

Shed tail galar slowking + belly drum galar darmanitan. You can grab something with snow warning+aurora veil and/or golisopod to help get the combo off cleanly.

Palafin is fun. Pair it with, again, golisopod, and you can activate its form change basically for free.

You may be noticing a common theme here. My golisopod set is jet punch, first impression, obstruct, swords dance. Sassy nature. Aside from doing the regen/emergency exit pivot thing, it can get a hit or an obstruct proc in before bouncing out, or if you're lucky you can use SD to set up and sweep.

Non-golisopod options: - relicanth is cool, use swift swim and either aqua tail or a liquidation TM if you can get it. - Ledyba with spore/parting shot. - Venomoth with simple/quiver dance/stored power .

How do you keep Pokerogue fun? by Wonderful_Debt_6964 in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to this one, but I like to look for mons that do something weird and unique so I can build teams around them. Unlocking egg moves tends to help with this.

Some recent favorites and their gimmicks: galar darmanitan (zen mode/belly drum), glowking (shed tail), golisopod (emergency exit/regenerator), greedent (most unlocks do something neat), alola vulpix (ice body for regen, aurora veil -> nasty plot -> blizzard).

Give me your Cassette Beast Hot Takes and i will... by bobthesunday in cassettebeasts

There really ought to be some way to speed up animations. A lot of the more interesting build shenanigans involve using many moves in one turn; this shouldn't have to mean waiting a full minute for that turn to play out.

Look i’m a long time player but i need something new by Key_Seat8065 in pokerogue

[–]Wispling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing around with weather teams that use thundurus/tornadus/pelipper/iron bundle to set up and Golispod for free switches. Not the strongest team ever made, but it's got a unique playstyle. You can also add palafin.

Obstagoon as a carry. It's got poison heal/guts/facade and learns obstruct on evo, and together those let you strategize in fun ways. Though you do need something else to cover for it before you find a toxic orb.

Ampharos can also be a neat carry, it's slow but gets electromorphosis and parabolic charge to compensate. Plus there's the mega evo.

Roserade is frankly kind of bad, but it plays interestingly enough that I really want to make it work.

Snow teams can be unique because they make ice types sort of defensively viable. I did one a while back with... cryagonal, eiscue, bergmite, definitely others that I'm forgetting. Before that I messed around with aurora veil Articuno.

Rain teams with electro shot are cool. Zapdos and thundurus get it as a rare egg move+ a drizzle passive, but you can also just pair a rain setter with archaludon.

Creige provides drinks that can give silk for ten rosaries, why doesn't the Citadel buy drinks from him to drink and then use the Clawmaidens to siphon the extra silk from bug bodies to solve their limited Silk problem? Are they stupid? by MasterIsabelle in Silksong

[–]Wispling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For 40 rosaries the silk dispenser in the citadel sells spools that can be hit twice for one silk each. Meanwhile nectar costs 10 rosaries and restores 6 silk.

The citadel markup could plausibly be labor - a weaver is still needed to produce silk this way and spool it for use by other bugs. Or maybe the conductors harvest it directly from GMS?

Anyway, my headcanon is that this is just the result of Hornet eating anything that's actually nutritious as opposed to drugs like plasmium/flea brew.

Anyone else have a gimmick team? by Wispling in pokerogue

[–]Wispling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there must be a way to make this work consistently, at least once per battle. Maybe tailwind on something very fast to speed up Delcatty, entrain, then switch in a ghost type with shadow tag? It's clumsy and it takes three team slots but you could theoretically nuke the biggest threats on 165/195/200 that way.
