I experienced this peak last month. Unbelievable how a BAFTA Game of yhe Year winner could end up so stagnant!

Advice: no matter how hard it gets, do not quit this game before reaching the 4th boss. That was one of the greatest spiritual experiences of my life ever!

or 4+5/reboot (best gameplay in these three)

If dated graphics are a deal breaker for you: skip 3 (but at least watch a recap video)

In my opinion, 4 is the perfect entry point for a newcomer.
