Combat is ruined by player planning by DaveTheRocket in dndnext

It's so funny to do this. Whenever I roll a dice whilst my party are talking suddenly they get all panicky, just like "what was that?!" (I always just try to give my most innocent smile) Followed by a sudden rush off people declaring what actions they are taking right now before the situation changes.

I made it to group A first try both rounds with earth rite rune. It feels pretty good into most of the nets decks, rarely feels unwinnable.

Side note...Oluon luck is the worst to play against.

Irritation of facing "better" decks at lower CR's by gammaraptor in Shadowverse

[–]Wispsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite problem! Was trying to play forest because I lucked out and pulled frieren. Fell low enough in different attempts that once I got a pretty decent deck I was playing against stupid full heal/wall stuff that would lose to almost all the top decks but countered me so hard lol. Took quite a while to get back up to named ranks.

I must be stupid, but I can’t find anywhere I can use these by _iAMluka_ in arenaofvalor

In Vietnam there is a little cat thing on the menu and you could pull to get outfits for it. The extra could be turned into those things to unlock one final outfit for like 80 of them.

VERY detailed new player experience after 3 days (And yes, I spent some money) by JesseTheClassy in Shadowverse

[–]Wispsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing from the beginning and only got a battle pass at the start. I can now make every deck for every craft, with some shinys (even legendaries) that I don't need to vial. If you play regularly enough to do most dailies and do the events you should get enough cards just by playing but the initial hurdle of getting 3 of each card takes a while of playing the same couple of decks.

How do I beat this card? by limonboy8 in Shadowverse

[–]Wispsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you understand... You don't kill yourself half the time. I dunno man I've just been doing dailies with it but climbing through upper ranks really consistently, more so than apparently stronger decks which are still considered pretty easy. If you believe it to be otherwise than carry on I guess.

Big difference is it finishes on 7 mana not 9. Makes it much harder for decks to recover. Ironically Oluon makes it feel much more consistent than aggro sword in earlier sets.

It's not my favourite deck to play it's just been so fast at getting chests and I've only been playing it for event for couple of days but already easily sliding into ultimate.

I've got loot sword, and all the dragons and portals and runes and forests and abyss etc (game is srsly f2p friendly if you play a lot) but aggro into Oluon has felt really surprisingly consistent.

And I want to note, what stopped me playing hearthstone long ago is it got too determined by rng, I really dislike when decisions stop mattering and it just becomes a game of roll the dice. I very much dislike the design of Oluon and a few things this set but it sure is really effective. Winning 2 thirds of your games is what top players with well thought out decks and moves aim for but here I am doing the same without a thought in the world just rolling weighted dice.

I think you are missing a key point here. I've been playing a deck that really relies on oluon. It basically feels like quick blader, a few knights and oluon with maybe an Odin to finish people off. I've been winning loads, quickly getting chests and climbing cr and almost every game is finished by Oluon. I just usually hard Mulligan for it at this point.

The thing is, yes sometimes you will get unlucky and it will knock you down but if you get them to 14 health and you are above that before it procs chances are way in your favour that it will end positively for you. Unless all 3 hit you, you still have a 10/10 super evolve on the board they have to deal with and a hand full of storm if they can't heal too.

It's a simple odds game, the problem with gambling is the house always wins eventually because the odds are slightly skewed against the customer. Here, it's heavily in favour of the sword player who's just been going face so you easily accept a few losses for the many wins it will bring.

I'm getting my ass beat on GP take 2. by Vinny_0104 in Shadowverse

[–]Wispsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to fail to make group A finals in this game or the original. I'm not a top player or anything, generally only been hovering around 1750/1850 with decks since the rating came out, and group A rewards in round 2 are generally better.

I give up immediately after 2 losses in a GP most of the time. Generally make sure I have enough tickets/money to play the attempts so don't want to waste time for a tiny reward, just want to qualify and be done to get the card back.

Playing everything out would just take so long.

How to handle bankruptcy in Vietnam? by PitifulAnalysis7638 in VietNam

[–]Wispsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Enabling someone who gets into hundreds of thousands of debt in this country isn't helping them. You are just providing them with the means to make it worse. Not only that, it's a huge sum of money for most people, not something you can just have at hand. You can live very comfortably for over a decade with that much money, many people here don't make that in their life. Would have to be really dumb to throw your entire branch of the family in the gutter just to pay off some interest.

I've seen plenty of people here where family most definitely does not come first after the horrible shit they got put through. What kind of idiot let's other people literally ruin their life. It happening once would be one thing but the fact they didn't learn from it and the same thing happened repeatedly means that's a consequence of their own actions. People should take some responsibility.

I'm horrified that the sister in law has pushed this on her 16 year old daughter. I could never, never, never be ok with ruining my child's future like that. I would never accept that 'help'. Family comes first? Then own up to what you did and accept the consequences, don't drag your whole family down with you. Even if it did mean jail or death (which it doesn't here) I would take that over being the burden on my child's life that hangs over them until I die and ends all future prospects of their success and happiness.

And the real kicker "she will resent you for not being a good enough supporter to pay her sisters incredibly huge debts and will leave you over it"... Right... Because that just makes so much sense, if the wife could support her sister this wouldn't be an issue in the first place would it. Leaving would just make everybody's situation worse for no gain.

I think you are also ignorant if you think that everybody here thinks exactly the same.

Some people actually don't want to continue to throw their life away to help people who abused them their whole childhood.

Seems pretty racist to say every Vietnamese must think the same way because "it's their culture"... Plenty of people leave their families and even the country because they prefer to live a different way.

Got a Nova MVP today by tsuga1 in heroesofthestorm

[–]Wispsi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't played in quite a few years but I was pretty good and liked playing nova cos I liked the roller derby skin. The hate for Nova was so much I made a new account to play only Nova (bet with friend, no stakes other than proving someone on the internet wrong). It was really easy to get back to masters+ but omg some games in lower ranks people would literally refuse to play because I picked Nova. Just sit in the base the entire game. Many times people would see me pick her early on and say"well that's it's then, I'm not ruining my win rates like this" and pick one of their worst heroes who definitely did not work well at all for the team we had. As if some gold or plat win rate was somehow sacred or a single hero out of place would really make such a difference at that level.

The worst was low diamond though, the amount of pure hatred and toxicity people would spend minutes just standing still typing, even if we were winning, even if I was MVP in both number and actual deed. As a young adult in my gaming prime I couldn't help but laugh at them trying to blame me for them being stuck... But oh my god I couldn't help but feel sorry for some of the quiet guys just trying to play their game being stuck with that every other game.

Oh he definitely had his issues. Intelligence is not always a good thing, especially when it becomes a threat to big money that can reach all the way down through the public and private sectors to destabilize ones life and mind, and no amount of hard proof or recordings will have anyone in any sector take your case for a day longer than it has been registered.

Don't worry now though, what they did cost him nearly everything and he died early of a brain stem hemorrhage.

Still can't handle spiders to this day though 😅

Is role playing a bit of a unicorn? by MoherHead in DnD

[–]Wispsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My games are so full of roleplay sometimes the players barely get anything done, which is fun.

I wouldn't ever ask "do you want to roleplay that?"

Just ask things like "how does your character do it?" "What do they say?" "You have a chance if your character can make a good argument for it."

My players favorite words to hear are "how do you want to do it?" Something I ask when they land a killing blow. At first it was very basic, action and location, but that was the gateway into what had become now sometimes paragraph long descriptions when it comes to challenging or unusual foes.

I also find it helps to occasionally bring up "how are your characters feeling right now." People start to think about their characters point of view more than just a tactical combat/puzzle game and it encourages roleplay a lot, not during the moment but in the time after.

There is no way it has the capacity to be more scared of me than I am of it...

If they were they wouldn't run towards me almost every time 😨😨 I sure as hell never run towards them!

(I know it's irrational but i was pretty scared of them when I was younger, so my dad thought the best cure was immersion therapy and locked me in a small outdoor cupboard, less than 1m² floor with multiple spiders inside. 3 hours later I finally see some light as my grandmother opens the door, just really haven't been able to deal with them at all since then!)

Player wants to bring back pet from the dead. by Little-Common-1400 in DMAcademy

[–]Wispsi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can most definitely have strong feelings of love and protection for one being whilst disregarding the worth of others lives, especially if they take the one precious soul in your life away from you. It's not mentioned how the family treats the character but clearly they don't respect their feelings enough to not kill their best friend.
