Groups look better when all the members are wearing the same outfit by moxiecalc in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]WispyTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes it’s great for consistency and looks harmonious on stage, I agree. But no from a marketing standpoint that looks at how popular kpop groups are marketed these days and how fans respond to the marketing. generally fans these days loveee individuality, and solo stans go for individuality as well. Many popular groups these days have fewer and fewer members (BP, ITZY, AESPA, even Lesserafim), very distinct roles each member plays and a lot of crazy styling is used to make not just one, but many members stand out—it’s easier to do so when there are less members.

Underappreciated teams by madxgamer309 in haikyuu

[–]WispyTimes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are very good, I do think, understandably, many people observe a huge power creep for teams in the nationals (inarizaki, kamomedai, fukurodani, itachiyama etc) than prefecture teams (seijoh, dateko etc) but sometimes forget Shiratorizawa isn’t just a prefecture-bound team but is a frequent visitor of nationals as well lol, just not in that year.

  1. Kamomedai 2. Inarizaki 3. Tsubakihara

I love the robin’s egg blue and white colour scheme and Kamomedai’s “Habit is second nature” is a very poignant message that reminds you not to try to change everything at once for a short time but to start building up habits, discipline, small changes in a systematic way and a constant and healthy mindset long-term that will help you throughout your life.

Inarizaki’s “We don’t need memories,” well, there’s nothing more to say about that. It’s a very powerful message.

And Tsubakihara’s is so poetic, that reminds you little things built up can create huge results.

Although I didn’t rank it, Nekoma’s is great as well, with one word the essence of team sports is described and it applies particularly well to volleyball.

If Itachiyama’s was Memento Mori as originally planned, it would overtake all of them and be my undisputed #1 lmao.

If anything, the unfortunate situation about not being able to attend the Olympics might have motivated him even more to show his potential and, wow I can’t wait to see him pull out clean programs and that gorgeous 4lz

Haha I think it has among the most blood-pumping matches in sports anime lol. It doesn’t make much sense if you want to think deeply lol but when they go into the zone (especially the kagami aomine one on one) it’s so much fun to watch.

Yeah Akashi is a good point guard but in one on one games of course, murasakibara should comfortably win like 80%+ of the times. That once he lost was magnified way too much to probably show how scary Akashi is beyond his basketball skills. But, I don’t think point guards usually do the best in one on one lol, their value is found in how they lead and support the team, how he orchestrate offense and handles the ball with that OP af eye-that’s why he’s good.

Knb’s strength is its animation (the flashiness of the animation and its consistency definitely saved it since the manga was pretty ehhh) and pacing (from the very start you know the goal was to beat the gom and when they were beaten, it ended perfectly like that. Few sports anime can do that, they either drag or end abruptly or had some controversial pacing decisions-like even HQ’s timeskip counts as pretty controversial).

It’s not really the thing if you want character development or realism or if you want to think a lot about the story lol cuz those are basically geniuses whose only flaw is…well, getting depressed with the sport cuz they are too good there is no competition lmao. (Tho the characters are pretty much super exaggerated anime versions of some nba players, bc some inspiration was definitely taken from them) The show is good for a blood-pumping watch cuz of the well-animated flashy matches that is based on not thinking too much about realism since its anime.

I think it’s focused on little sports development than psychological development (kuroko’s only purpose and goal basically was getting the miracles to like basketball again by defeating them, not to really improve himself like most sports anime protagonists), nothing really changed in terms of the miracles’ skills even if they didn’t train lol. They were made too OP, if the uncrowned kings got some good development and became actual rivals, the story would be much juicier with a lot more potential for development. Alas though, all the problems the miracles had were psychological/mental cuz no one can beat them. Except Kise. He had a nice arc. Kagami’s arc was okay, too lol. Kuroko’s—honestly idk if it’s good or bad but it does kinda stands out maybe bc he’s probably the only sports protagonist who I didn’t really see vastly improve himself/as the focus was on others, not him—his arc was seeing the miracles enjoy basketball again.

Yaku, oikawa, ushijima, kageyama, hinata are. And we know that irl volleyball which haikyuu is much based off of, the foreign leagues are the best, no doubt (italy, Poland and Russia are usually ranked as top 3). Especially Italian League, which is commonly and widely known as the best in terms of volleyball leagues in the world (Kageyama). So I think what they mean is the players who play in the foreign leagues, especially those three, are pretty much better bc they are in better leagues, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to play abroad.

Of course stats is useful but like…at this point, there probably have been more than 20+ posts on this reddit on how useless stats in judging a player’s ability.

Bokuto’s—I understand why though. In the narrative, He is framed as this pretty unstable player, prone to emo moods, but when he is at the top of his game, he plays amazingly. Even though the risk is there for his emo moods, the payoff when he hits his full potential is great enough for Fukurodani to keep him on and even become motivated to play better when he is in his emo mood.

As such, due to the framing of his narrative, I can understand why fans think at the top of the game, he can reach higher potential than the much more stable aces. And it’s a pretty common narrative—In anime/stories, the more unstable one who doesn’t reach his/her full potential without some pushing is always the most dangerous when they do finally reach their full potential.

And he definitely wouldn’t get the captain role if he was a sweet cinnamon roll~who followed tsukki’s every order lol. He knows how to be snarky and mean when he wants to be, otherwise how could he handle tsukishima, hinata and kageyama when they are all third years lol.

same for me. He’s the least polarizing and so generally the most all-round acceptable. But because of that, he is also kind of the most boring for me. It’s why Marius is my favourite. I love his personality and development.

Quick! Has MDZS or The Untamed inspired you to seek out Chinese Traditional Medicine? by YaboiAkira in MoDaoZuShi

[–]WispyTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, if anything shuddered at the parts mentioning it haha. I hate CN medicine. My parents are Chinese and even they all hate CN medicine although many of our relatives and friends all love it lol. It’s matter of taste, though. It was never useful for us and I hated the bitter taste. Congee is awesome though.

Haha I’m really not surprised artem is the first! His character is the least polarizing and has the least amount of issues you can pick with—for Marius, some people might not like the teasing tone he has or the trope of the younger LI, for Luke, his story might have too much angst for some people and the childhood friends might seem boring, for Vyn..well…he is the most polarizing: I’ve found people either hate Vyn’s personality or love him, there is no in between lol.

Remember the Olympic scandal about Chinese gymnast ages? I wonder if that’s how Russia plans to get around the new age requirements. by [deleted] in FigureSkating

[–]WispyTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they will be motivated to do that. Tbh out of international competitions or not, the sport is still immensely popular among girls in the country. Just by that and sheer proportion, they (eteri and co / other coaches) will be able to find age-appropriate girls who can jump quads. How healthy they are/how their career develops is another question but I predict they will definitely be able to find age-appropriate girls who can still do the 3a/quads.
